If trails like Booth Lake and Upper Piney River are feeling a little crowded lately, here are four lesser-known hikes to explore in the Vail Valley:

Lost Lake Trail (Beginner)
3.3 miles one-way. Trailhead off Forest Road #700 near Piney Lake (opening June 21). Follows a ridge between the Piney and Red Sandstone drainages, with views of Vail Mountain, Beaver Creek, and the Gore Range.

Wildridge Backyard Loop (Beginner)
3.4-mile loop on the open hillside above the Wildridge neighborhood. Catch sweeping views of Beaver Creek and Avon along a well-maintained trail.

Game Creek Trail (Intermediate)
4.2 miles from Vail Mountain to Minturn. Trailhead across from the Eagle Bahn Gondola. Passes through aspen groves and known for wildlife sightings.

Cabin Trail (Advanced)
2.3 miles on a quieter side of Vail Mountain. Accessible from Gondola One, connecting to Strawberry Lane near the Head First ski run. Features stream crossings and wildflowers in peak season.
