Hi everyone,
My name is Alex Lisogor, and I’m the owner of Waupaca Rental Center here in Waupaca, Wisconsin. I want to take a moment to address a situation that has been circulating online over
the past few days.
Last week, a customer came in to rent a trencher. As with all equipment rentals, we asked a few standard questions to understand the project and make sure the right equipment—and a safe plan—were in place. During that conversation, the customer requested help loading the trencher into a minivan using a couple of planks. Unfortunately, we’ve seen firsthand how dangerous it can be for one person to load heavy equipment without the right vehicle, support, or tools. It’s not just a risk to our equipment—it’s a
real safety issue for the customer. I tried to explain this, but the conversation escalated.
The customer later claimed that we denied the rental because she was a woman. I want to be absolutely clear: that is not true. The decision was made based solely on safety and logistics. I would have made the same call regardless of who was standing at the counter. My team and I treat every customer with the same care and caution, and our priority is always safety—yours and ours.
We’re a small, family-run business with deep roots in this community. We’ve always aimed to be helpful, fair, and responsible. I know stories can take on a life of their own online, so I felt it was
important to share the facts directly and respectfully. I’m glad to hear she completed her project, and I genuinely wish her the best. There are no hard feelings—this was simply a matter of safety and liability.
Lastly, we’ll be posting our rental policies at the counter—including when and why a rental might be declined—so everything is clear and visible to all our customers.
To those who’ve reached out with support, thank you. Your messages mean a lot. We love this town, we love serving our neighbors, and we’ll keep showing up every day to do our best.
