OTR Out & About 🧡🍂

This week took us to Parfrey’s Glen, near Devil’s Lake State Park and it is absolutely gorgeous right now!

The photos barely capture it. We climbed past giant sandstone formations, crossed over rocks and followed the stream all the way to the little waterfall at the end. The last stretch definitely takes some effort to avoid wet shoes, but with my strong family helping me crisscross the rocks, I made it!

Afterward, we rewarded ourselves with b**r and apps at Tumbled Rock - one of my all-time favorites.
Go now, if you can! The weather is comfortable, the crowds are lighter, and the fall colors make the whole hike even better.

OTR Out & About 🧡

Last night a few of us headed to Chalet Lanes for a pitcher of Spotted Cow, hanging out, and a chance to catch up with owner Sarah - always one of our favorite people to see!

Chalet Lanes was one of our very first hangout spots when we moved to the Dells area, and it’s still an easy favorite. Come for a fantastic burger, live music, the outdoor patio overlooking Elm Street Plaza, bowling (of course)... or just a cold yummy b**r and a good place to hang out with friends.

Definitely a winner! 🧡

OTR Out & About 🧡⛳

This week’s Out & About took me to Sand Valley to volunteer during the practice weekend for the U.S. Mid-Amateur! My job was crossing guard... not fancy, but so fun to chat with the golfers as they moved between the practice area and short-game area across the road.

It was amazing to see how much goes into an event like this at Sand Valley: USGA folks, 264 golfers, hundreds of staff and volunteers, and two incredible courses all coming together to make it happen.

It also realized that Orange Tractor Retreat is a pretty great home base between world-class golf at Sand Valley and everything the Dells has to offer (whether that means waterparks and family fun, or great food, live music, wineries and spas). All with a quiet retreat in the woods to return to when everyone is ready.

This week: The Silo Bar at Farmer in the Dells.

We’ve been a few times and always love the gorgeous space, great bartenders and awesome vibe! It’s one of those places that is extraordinary the minute you walk in!

Definitely worth adding to your Dells list! (You might find me there again soon... I love it!)

🧡💦 OTR Out & About

A trip to the Dells and a waterpark traditionally go hand in hand, so we decided it was time to go a little old-school and spend the afternoon at Noah’s Ark Waterpark.

I’ll admit, I’m not really a wristband-waterpark person. But I do love a sunny day, sparkling pools and some excellent people-watching- and Noah’s Ark was a lot more fun than I expected.

What surprised me most was how BIG it is. 70 acres! From the road (near the Grateful Shed) you really have no idea how far the park stretches behind everything. Once you’re inside, it just keeps going. Pools, slides, shaded areas, sunny spots, food, drinks, adult beverages and different areas for different ages. You could very easily spend the entire day here.

And there’s something kind of impressive about a place that has been part of the Dells for so long and has continued to grow into America’s Largest Outdoor Waterpark. It feels energetic and lively, but also like they genuinely care about making the day fun and engaging for the people who come through the gates.

We visited during Noah’s Ark’s Dells Community Day and had a chance to meet some of their team and learn a little more about the park.

So now I’m curious...

Would discounted Noah’s Ark tickets be something you’d like to have available when staying at Orange Tractor Retreat?

🧡 OTR Out & About

My daughter and I stopped at Daylene’s Supper Club on Lake Delton with no reservation and a very simple plan: sit outside, have a drink and order a few appetizers.

And I really liked this place.

Their patio is beautiful, with lots of seating, fire tables for when the evening cools down, and a great view of the boats traveling back and forth on Lake Delton, including the Original Wisconsin Ducks® cruising by!

We went with the Sips & Apps approach: a margarita, a mocktail and a few things to share. It was such an easy, relaxing way to spend the evening.

What stood out to me most was the atmosphere. The outdoor space has a lovely, calm vibe that feels a little removed from the busier side of the Dells, even though you’re right there on Lake Delton watching the boats (and the Ducks) go by.

Next time, I definitely want to make a reservation and try dinner inside... I’ll let you know when that happens!
