MooiBaai Cottages is located in Hout Bay, a beautifully green suburb of Cape Town. Hout Bay lies in the Cape Peninsula and is surrounded by an impressive mountain landscape on three sides whilst the bay spectacularly opens to the wide Atlantic Ocean in the south. It is a perfect starting point for many attractions and activities in the area, for exploring the Mother City (as Cape Town is called) s

ituated just behind the corner, going to Cape Point via the iconic Chapman’s Peak Drive, wine tasting in Constantia or enjoying one of many pristine sandy beaches along the coastline. Due to its central location, Hout Bay is often considered as “The Heart of the Cape”.

Being part of a soft launch is always a good idea, especially when it’s at 🥰🥂🍀
It was fantastic, and it was a break I needed even more than I thought!

Also - what a beautiful day! Here you wouldn’t say that Hout Bay just lost ca 10% of its trees 😬 (or so it seems at least 😅)

Just a small appreciation post for our Nellie ☺️
Such a beautiful oasis in the middle of town, where old meets new and history is tangible. Mount Nelson, aka the Pink Lady or Nellie ☺️

Also: the afternoon tea is to die for!!

A HIGHLY needed break last week!! So much sleeping 🙈
It started with a cold front (for which I clearly didn’t bring appropriate clothing - winter in April?!!) but in Wellington is perfect for that kind of weather too 🔥🔥
Had a great pre-release tasting of Brookdale’s grenache 👌🍷
Then heading to Robertson where we stayed at at Silverthorn 🥂🥂. Only such a short drive but you’re in another world with vast open spaces, jelly next to the fresh fruit at Checkers, as well as fresh dough!! Revisited Temenos in McGregor, such a special place ❤️
Furthermore lots of MCC and Chardonnay and old classics that had a revamp such as De Wetshof and Weltevrede wineries. Highly recommend Kapokbos for lunch!
A quick stop at The Small Hotel, out of curiosity 😇
Closed off at Spioenkop with Silverthorn’s still wine, before another cold front hit.
2 more weeks and this super super busy season is a wrap 😱😱
Can you believe we’re almost May?!

Guess what we had to do yesterday?? Light the fireplace in Elephant 🙈🙈🔥 Now this is a proper winter weekend, glas we’re going back to normal sunny weather next week! But also very very happy with this rain…

On another note - the days for this bathroom are counted! Yes, this one is getting a serious revamp in a month! 😮‍💨

And then suddenly it’s autumn!
In Mooibaai the trees at the entrances have lost already many leaves, at Spioenkop the vines start changing colour.
But what I absolutely love about autumn, or better: indian summer, is the light. The different angle of the sun makes all the colours and landscapes so much softer… 🍁🍄‍🟫🍂
We’re all also eagerly waiting for some rain, and then all plants will start flowering as well.
Happy with my seasons! 😊

When Theresa has her day off, I still do breakfast myself - after all I used to do it myself 7/7 for the first 5 years!
And the strange thing is: I still like doing it! The prepping, the serving, the cleaning up. There is something very satisfying in the strict scheme, all the cutting and then seeing the guests enjoy all the homemade things ☺️ an influencer would make a timelapse from it!
Just wanted to share this 😎🍀🇿🇦
But also very happy with Theresa’s help!!! There is a time and place for everything… 😅😇

Almost a month since my last post 🙈🙈🙈
Just to say that February was hectic with peak season, harvest, art fair and friends and family visiting. Same same as all the previous years 🤷‍♀️

But now we’re March, back to normal and it’s a week with relatively cool temperatures so no more excuse to run up Chappies! Which I expected to be closed but it wasn’t. Anyway, we did it!! (Despite burning calves as I am not used anymore to run 5km steady uphill…)
And a good cool down splash in the ocean for P 😊

Table Mountain from a different angle. It has been a while since a walked up Tafelberg Road, to the canons.
And then I sit there on one of these concrete benches, sun on my face (29*) and I think: I made this happen. So much hard work, but all so worth it. Still so happy.
