Friday afternoon to Sunday doesn't sound like much.⁠
Until you fill it with a mountain walk, a swim in the rock pools, dinner around the fire, a morning coffee that lasts far longer than usual and enough time left over to do absolutely nothing.⁠

It is easy to be distracted by the big views at Cedarpeak, but some of the most interesting parts of the landscape are right at your feet.
The fynbos, birdlife, insects and wildlife all form part of an incredibly diverse mountain environment, and protecting it is a responsibility we take seriously.
So on your next walk, take your time. Look between the rocks, notice what is flowering and listen for what is moving around you.
There is far more living in these mountains than you might notice at first glance.

You could quite happily spend your entire stay at Cedarpeak without leaving the mountains... but you don't have to.

There is plenty to explore in the surrounding area too. Visit Rockhaven Farm to learn more about locally produced essential oils, head out for a gin tasting at GINSMITH, spend some time discovering Porterville's creative side, or take a drive over Dasklip Pass.

So, if you're staying for a few extra days, save this post for a few ideas beyond the hiking trails and rock pools.

A good book, a comfortable bed and absolutely no reason to rush through the morning.

Not every day at Cedarpeak needs to be filled with hiking trails and adventures. Sometimes putting your feet up, turning another page and enjoying a few hours with nowhere else to be is exactly what you came for.

It usually begins with one message.

Before long, the plans are made, the bags are packed, and everyone is together at Blomhoff Homestead.
Days are spent exploring Cedarpeak, meals are shared around one table, and evenings naturally end around the fire.
