We live in a world of ‘ Instant Gratification ‘ where patience is a very scarce commodity and frustration and irritation can be seen and felt far too often. Just hesitate for longer than 2 seconds once a robot turns green and wait for the hoot from the car behind you to see how this works in reality.

Cultivating patience is a learned skill which takes practice.

Frustration and irritation can be avoided when we learn to accept and understand
that things unfold in their own time .

It means remaining peaceful even when things become slow and difficult.

Self control and mindfulness are keys to foster the art of patience which is the antidote to anger
Patience can help transform anger into emotional strength and resilience.
Having patience with any situation, allows one to pause and respond rather than react.

Let’s focus our attention this week on moments where we can tap into the space between the event and our response to it.

‘ Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space lies our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.’
Viktor Frankl

Standing still in the garden waiting for the right moment 😊

‘ 🌈 The Action spectrum -Part 3 🌈

PATIENCE : Our third effective practice to create both inner and outer peace ( The colour yellow )

There is no solid, indivisible particle out of which matter is composed.
All of life is INTERDEPENDENT, and therefore, UNIFIED.
All of life is composed of waves of energy and is inseparable from all other sentient ( and non sentient ) beings.
We are literally all one .
What we ‘put’ into this field of life will be experienced by us - sooner or later - as we are all interconnected aspects of the WEB OF LIFE.
All over the earth people are waking up to this.

Patience is a particularly beautiful practice for those who are realising the wisdom that understands and acknowledges the interdependence of all life.

Patience is many things :-
• Patience sits calmly throughout raging uncertainty and chaos and recognizes somebody’s inner light when they have forgotten it .
• Courageous patience makes eye contact with the destitute who stand at traffic intersections.
• Patient people are able to sit with their own pain and suffering without trying to escape from it.
• Patience is gentleness and compassion.
• Patience is the full acceptance of what the mind has judged to be unacceptable.
• To practice patience is to rewire the brain

Patience takes courage and gentleness to perform and it creates inner peace and authentic power - which is power with others, not power over others . . .
This, in turn, further empowers our sense of unity.
This is the cycle of life at optimum levels of functionality.

Finally, let’s never forget that any action performed anywhere within the ‘field of life’ affects all aspects of the field at some level.

From this, another realization effortlessly arises to meet with our attention.
Not only are we totally inter-dependent beings living within (and inseparable from) a limitless unified field of energy, we are also highly effective co - creators of both our individual and collective realities.

This week, in a moment of irritation and annoyance, take a breath and ‘ Adopt the pace of Nature. Her secret is Patience.’
( Ralph Waldo Emerson) ‘

45 min of my time today and in return I get 4 jars for the shelves, 1 small jar for our pantry and 2 to give as gifts :

Here is my family basic marmalde recipe :

🍋2 kg of citrus ( I used limes and 2 lemons for this)
🍋1. 5 kg sugar
🍋1.2 l water ( if doing in a pressure cooker)
🍋2.4 l water (if doing in a pot on the stove)

Method :
🍋Peel skins thinly ( as little pith as possible)
🍋 Slice into thickness preferred
🍋Juice
🍋 Place hulls and pips in bag and tie closed
🍋 Soak peels, juice, water ( take careful note of water quantities above) and hulls and pips overnight .
🍋Next day cook peels etc by simmering for about one and a half hours if doing on stove ( check if peel is soft by seeing if it can be easily pierced)

Or in pressure pot for about 18 minutes .

🍋Remove bag, cool and squeeze to release pectin
🍋Put into a large pot along with peel, juice etc and add 1.4 kg sugar
🍋Bring to boil and cook until setting point is reached
🍋Bottle while hot in hot sterilized jars

Enjoy 😊

If you would like to learn how to do it and you are in the area, why not get a few friends together, contact me and we can have a marmalade making workshop.

My ‘office’ for the day and someone’s generosity has come my way . . .
( Thank you Alan for the very welcome gift )
🍋🍋‍🟩 2 kg limes and a few lemons 🍋🍋‍🟩

A perfect combination for a batch of
Lime, Lemon & Ginger Marmalade.

Making marmalade is quite a labour intensive procedure but the results are well worth it .
A slice of homemade whole wheat Toast spread with some butter and homemade marmalade is a delicious treat and so much better than store bought.

Why not give it a go ?

A batch makes a few jars so some for the pantry and some to give as a homemade gift .
