🌿 **A New Chapter for Iris Retreat**
In 2027, we are beginning a new journey at Iris Retreat — one that brings us even closer to the nature that surrounds us every day.
We want to become more eco-friendly, but rather than simply buying products labelled “green”, we are looking at what we already have and asking ourselves: **How can we make, reuse, repurpose or return it to nature?**
We will be making our own handmade soaps for our guest rooms, creating natural spa products and developing our own environmentally conscious cleaning products. We will also be making natural insect repellents for use at Iris.
Even things that might normally be thrown away can have another purpose. Fireplace ash can be returned to the garden where appropriate, while fallen branches and leaves are allowed to decompose naturally, returning nutrients to the earth and providing a home for the tiny creatures that are part of our ecosystem.
This is only the beginning.
We will be finding more ways to reduce waste, reduce unnecessary packaging, reuse what we can and make better use of the natural resources already available to us.
We don't expect to become perfectly sustainable overnight. Instead, we want to make **small, meaningful changes that are right for Iris** — and share our journey with you along the way.
Because sometimes living more sustainably isn't about buying something new.
It's about looking at what you already have in a different way. 🌿
