We thought our water bowl was there for the wildlife to enjoy a refreshing drink… 🐗💦

But apparently, this warthog had other plans! After coming for a drink, he decided to use all his strength to turn the entire bowl upside down — spilling every last drop — and creating his very own mud bath. 😂

Because why simply drink the water when you can completely redecorate the place and turn it into a luxury spa?

Just another unexpected visitor and one of those wonderful little moments that make life at Ubuntu Luxury Villa so special. In the African bush, you never quite know what might happen next!

There’s no greater compliment than knowing Ubuntu Luxury Villa and South Africa have found a special place in our guests’s hearts ♥️🙏🏼

“One last look into the garden, breathing in the scent and trying to spot the animals. We don’t want to leave!!!

Because what a wonderful place, so atmospheric and everything is just right.

We have had an amazing time here and felt a sense of peace that simply isn’t there in the Netherlands.

But unfortunately, our time here has come to an end.

Thank you so much, Dennis, Anouk and Jackie, for all your help, tips and attention. ❤️

South Africa has, partly thanks to you, gained a special place in our hearts.

Back home, we can look back on two very beautiful weeks, during which we did and experienced so much.

And fortunately, we still have the photos :-) What a wonderful new hobby: capturing wildlife with the camera.

Not one. Not two. But THREE. 🦡🦡🦡😍

We thought our recent leopard sighting was pretty special… but then our trail camera caught something we definitely didn’t expect.

Three honey badgers visiting our waterhole together🤗

Honey badgers are elusive, tough and usually solitary animals, which makes this sighting all the more incredible.

This is what we love about having a waterhole right here at Ubuntu Luxury Villa. You never know who might wander in during the night… and sometimes, the trail camera captures something truly unforgettable. 🐾

A leopard was already amazing.

IT’S NOT JUST A VILLA…♥️

Of course, Ubuntu Luxury Villa is a place to stay.

A beautiful home in the heart of the bush, with a private pool, 3 bedrooms, a deck overlooking nature and everything you need to slow down.

But after all these years, we’ve realized that Ubuntu Luxury Villa is about so much more than the villa itself.

It’s waking up to birdsong.
It’s spotting wildlife while having your morning coffee.
It’s taking a swim with the bush all around you.
It’s watching the sky change colour at sunset.
It’s gathering around the fire as the sounds of Africa come alive.

And sometimes, it’s simply sitting quietly and realizing that you don’t need to be anywhere else.

Because the most special part of Ubuntu Luxury Villa isn’t what you find inside the villa.

It’s what you feel inside when you’re here 🫶🏼✨🇿🇦

Every month tells a different story… 🌿🐾

July brought an incredible variety of wildlife to Ubuntu Luxury Villa, and every visit to our waterhole was a reminder that nature always has a surprise in store.

This month’s highlights included two playful genets, two different porcupine sightings—including one memorable visit where two porcupines appeared together—a young male leopard, hyena, zebra, kudu, nyala, waterbuck and many more wonderful visitors.

One of our favourite moments? Watching the trail camera footage and discovering one of the genets standing on its hind legs, curiously looking around before continuing its nightly adventure and of course seeing the leopard on broad day light😍.

These are the moments that make life in the African bush so special. Every day is different, every month tells a new story.

A surprise waiting on our trail camera 🐆✨

While our guests were out exploring, a very special visitor quietly arrived at Ubuntu Luxury Villa…

Around 11:00 in the morning, this beautiful young male leopard came to our waterhole for a refreshing drink. After quenching his thirst, he continued his journey and walked straight in front of our trail camera — giving us this incredible close-up moment.

Moments like these are why we love living in the African bush. You never know what might appear, even in the middle of a sunny morning.

A true Ubuntu moment♥️

OUR STORY • PART 2
Before Ubuntu became a holiday home... it was our home. ❤️

Construction of Ubuntu Luxury Villa started in October 2018. After months of planning, designing and watching our dream become reality, we welcomed our very first guests at the end of 2019.

But before travellers from around the world discovered Ubuntu, this was where we lived whenever we were in Hoedspruit.

Our mornings began with a shower outside, breakfast and a cup of tea on the patio, listening to birdsong as wildlife wandered past. Sunny afternoons were spent by the pool, and evenings ended on the viewing deck with a sundowner or around the boma under a sky full of stars.

Some of our most treasured memories were made here. From our very first sundowner on the viewing deck and our first braai, to a family trip we’ll never forget, when both our parents, Dennis’ brother and sister-in-law, and our niece experienced Ubuntu for the very first time.

Looking back at these photos always brings a smile to our faces. While the styling has evolved over the years and we’ve added new touches throughout the villa, one thing has never changed...

Ubuntu has always been a place to slow down, reconnect with nature and feel completely at home.
We’re incredibly grateful that today we can share that feeling with guests from all over the world.

There are safari moments you never forget… and this was definitely one of them. 🐘✨

Our recent guests experienced an incredible encounter during their game drive in , as a massive breeding herd of elephants slowly made their way towards the vehicle. Watching these gentle giants, with so many playful calves safely surrounded by the herd, was a truly magical sight.

A huge thank you to our guests and for sharing this unforgettable footage with us.

This unforgettable safari was with .charley, who was guiding for .reinhardt , who conveniently picked our guests up from Ubuntu Luxury Villa and dropped them off again after an amazing morning in the bush.

A little trip down memory lane... ♥️🇿🇦

Over the next few weeks, we’d love to take you behind the scenes and share the story of how Ubuntu Luxury Villa came to life.

Today, we’re going back to where it all began.

In August 2018, we started with a dream: to create a place where people could slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience the magic of the African bush in complete comfort and privacy.

Building Ubuntu Luxury Villa was an incredible journey, filled with excitement, challenges, countless decisions, and unforgettable moments. After months of planning and construction, we proudly welcomed our very first guests in October 2019.

What many people don’t know is that Ubuntu Luxury Villa wasn’t just a project for us—it also became our home whenever we were in Hoedspruit. We spent countless mornings on the patio with a cup of tea, afternoons by the pool, and evenings listening to the sounds of the bush while watching wildlife wander past.

While the styling has evolved over the years, the feeling has never changed. Ubuntu Luxury Villa is still the peaceful sanctuary we dreamed of creating all those years ago.
