“No one will protect what they don’t care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced.” — Sir David Attenborough.

Today, and always, we celebrate the heart of what he has spent a century protecting: the cycle of life.

Every mother in the bush is a teacher, making sure the next generation survives. They teach their babes where to find water, when to run and how to stand on their own.

We are continuously captivated by the small acts of devotion that keep the bush alive. From the silent leopard moving her cubs in the dead of night to the elephant matriarch sharing 40 years of wisdom, every bond matters.

Happy Mother’s Day to every mom doing it her own way. The ones with a pride behind them, and the ones doing it solo. To the ones who carry more than we’ll ever see: we see you. 🤍

There’s a reason “heart” and “earth” share the same letters.

The theme for 2026 is “Our Power, Our Planet” - a reminder that we have the power to protect what was here long before us. Our lodges exist as small windows into two of South Africa’s most resilient biospheres.

In the Game Reserve, and are part of 36,000 hectares of UNESCO-recognised wilderness. This is a protected sanctuary where balance is continually being restored and rhino populations are carefully protected.

Further north, and Pel’s Post sit in the Makuleke region. This remote corner represents only 1% of Kruger’s landmass, yet it supports an extraordinary concentration of biodiversity. As part of a Ramsar Convention-recognised wetland system, it remains one of the most vital ecological landscapes on the continent.

By supporting eco-tourism and adhering to conservation practices, both the landscape and its wildlife are able to flourish.

We are grateful to be here, and humbled to welcome you to these awe-inspiring places.

They say an elephant never forgets. What they don’t tell you is that you never forget an elephant.

To witness one is extraordinary, but their role in the landscape runs even deeper. Elephants are ecosystem engineers, planting thousands of trees, opening pathways through the bush, and finding water in drought conditions that other animals rely on too.

Whether it’s a herd passing the deck at or in the Game Reserve, or the giants roaming the old ivory routes of Northern Kruger at , their presence is the heartbeat of these wild places.

Hippos at a waterhole. A lion at rest, close enough to hear him breathe. Two of our properties, and , sit inside , one of South Africa’s most biodiverse reserves. This is what slow looks like here, and we’d have it no other way.
