You are most welcome to the Victorian home, which is accessible by appointment, to discerning guests such as yourself who will appreciate the elegant simplicity of a finer life style of yesteryear and Nature at it’s best. The Royston Hall experience transports the guests to an era long forgotten, where loose leaf tea is served from silver tea pots and exquisite treats are served on beribboned thre

e-tier cake stands decorated with fresh roses. This beautiful Manor House with her rich history is certainly the best kept secret destination on the Lower South Coast - but not for long! The House is set on her own small Nature Reserve nestled in tall indigenous coastal forest adjacent to the mighty Umzimkulu River with a view of the Indian Ocean in the distance. If the beach attracts you, our swimming beach is only 2.3km per road. Royston Hall is a stately old Victorian Lady from a bygone era lovingly restored to her former glory as a home with Historical Interest. Our Guesthouse offers 4 beautifully appointed Rooms in order to guarantee exclusivity. Come and spend a night or however long it takes for you to revitalise your body and soul in this tranquil setting. Reserve an elegant Honeymoon Suite in which to create loving memories for life. Consider your next Corporate Function, Private Party or your intimate Wedding in the exclusivity of our Victorian functions venue, “The Upper Room” where we seat a maximum of 40 guests. You might even just decide to take a leasurely stroll to our dam or hike along the north bank of the Umimkulu River all the way past the 6th and 8th Holes of the Port Shepstone Golf Clouse to the newly erected Whale Deck overlooking the deep waters of the Indian Ocean at the famous 'Sandspit' where the fishing is great. If the round trip is too strenuous, we can arrange for Brian Lange to Ferry you back to RH in his river craft. Experience Royston Halll first hand.

You can learn much about an old home by the books it keeps. Their pages hold clues to the lives, passions, and conversations that once filled its rooms.

The Umzimkulu River is one of the great natural landmarks of the KZN South Coast and forms a big part of what makes Royston Hall so special. Flowing all the way from the foothills of the Drakensberg to the Indian Ocean at Port Shepstone, the river has shaped the history, wildlife, and settlement of the area for generations. Its name is believed to mean “great home” or “large place” in isiZulu and isiXhosa, reflecting its size and importance.

One of our favourite rooms in the house. Natural light, an arched window overlooking the river, and it's just filled with all sorts of antiques and items that tell a rich story of days gone by.
