In Toto Retreat - Garden Route

Good luck to the 8 cyclists who set off this morning on the Sedgefield 500. This 500km self-supported ultra gravel cycling event has roughly 5,800 to 7,000 meters elevation gain. It is to be completed in 60 hours. The route starting in Sedgefield traverses through iconic passes and towns of the Garden Route and Klein Karoo including the historic Seven Passes Road,
Paardepoort - Calitzdorp - Rooiberg Pass - Oudtshoorn - karoo Rollers - Uniondale - Prince Alfred Pass - Knysna Forest ending back in Sedgefield.

In Toto Retreat hosted the riders to kick off braai and was there to set them off on their epic journey. Last years 3 riders were introduced to the three trees planted in their honour. The Sedgefield 500 is part of the Series.

This years riders are: David Jenkins, Paul Siebert, Ben Nortier, Guy Jennings, Dirco Rautenbach, Tjop (Johan) Fourie, Wynand van den Berg, Johannes Ge**er. A very happy birthday to Johan Fourie.

Wow Chester Missing …..it was so lekker having you and your sidekick Conrad visit us. Cannot wait for your next paddle to our shores….

Conrad put me in a canoe at In Toto Retreat - Garden Route in Sedgefield. I’m so annoyed right now. Do I look like I like being in a canoe?!

But if you go to the Garden Route definitely stay there. It’s more lekker than a koeksuster inside a boerewors.
