Three magic words. One broken-down Land Rover. And a little faith in the Land Rover community.

At 15:18 The Wellington County House GATE rings people want to check in; my first instinct is to refuse the check in.

Their car broke down in Cederberg... I instantly felt sorry for them and decided they could stay..

I did not really want to go. My husband, Dick and I had a nice peaceful day so far and we had just enjoyed our choppies from our Best Friend gas braai...

I drove back, regretting my decision... I decided to ask them 3 magic words that would let them in...

Ian’s first guess was please?

Sara said: Landrover

2nd word: Defender

3rd word: 110

They were instantly home safe!

I took them to Checkers and they wanted to stay there and walk back.

I went home. On the way I asked Onverwacht group if someone had Neckie’s direct no.

The group responded and gave me his cell.

I called him, he immediately suggested he bring them a loan car, which he dropped off at my home (I was expecting a defender, which of course was a pipe dream?)

I drove back to the Freelander, hoping to catch them at Checkers.. I stopped in front of Spur and there they were, RIGHT in front of me!

Went in and put the keys down in front of Sara.

They were incredulous and overjoyed

I sat down and like long lost best friends we got lost in tales of broken Landies and wonderful landscapes and all the Landie-angels we meet whenever we need to..
