Cook Shire Council advises that critical construction works along Bloomfield Road are scheduled to commence in the area with crews mobilising on site from:
MONDAY 16 SEPTEMBER 2024 until EARLY DECEMBER 2024
This initial phase will target high-priority works that need to be completed before the wet season starts including critical culvert crossing and multiple road sections repair and reconstruction.
The works will focus on major culverts, slope stabilisation, and road reconstruction to ensure long-term road durability and safety.
Traffic management will be in place, so please follow the signs and instructions, and expect some delays.
Moreover, the detailed geotechnical assessments and specialised designs for the most critical locations is also progressing in parallel.

We are also working closely with the Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation, Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and other environmental agencies to ensure all environmental and cultural requirements are met. These detailed designs, funding approvals and environmental and cultural permits, although, take some time but are crucial part of compliances and recovery process to ensure a more sustainable outcome.
