A Lightning Ridge Book Recommendation for the Long Weekend — OLIVE AND THE BLACK OPAL ❤️📕👦🧒👍🫶

One of our recent guests, Joe Wilson, has written a beautiful children’s book OLIVE AND THE BLACK OPAL, Olive & Poppy’s Opal Adventures — and we think the adults reading it to their kids or grandkids will enjoy it just as much, especially if they have their own connection to the Ridge… or perhaps it might even inspire the next family holiday.

Joe’s connection with Lightning Ridge goes back many years. As a young man, he kept returning here and spent time mining with a family friend, and you can really feel that history, affection and love for the town throughout the book.

It’s a beautiful story that captures Lightning Ridge with so much warmth and passion and celebrates what makes our little town so unique.
