🌧️ Well… there’s rain predicted. And we’re certainly not complaining.

After the dry conditions we’ve been experiencing, it’s very welcome here at Carinya.

It does, however, mean our unsealed roads need a rest.

We’ll be closed from today through until at least Thursday, giving the rain time to pass and our roads time to dry out before we welcome guests back onto the property.

We’ll reassess later in the week and anyone with a booking affected by the closure will hear from us directly.

For now, we’ll enjoy the sound of rain on the roof, watch the paddocks soak it up and be very grateful for every drop. 🌧️🌱

The troublemaker.

Unfortunately… ours travels with a friend.

How NOT to muster sheep.
Stick with us.

Ready to trade the city lights for big outback skies and some real country hospitality? Welcome to Carinya Station!

If you’re planning an adventure to the famous opal-mining town of Lightning Ridge, this beautiful 6600-acre family farm is one stop you absolutely cannot miss. Hosted by Joe, Jacinda, and their kids, they’ll welcome you like old mates the second you pull up.

Carinya isn’t a manicured resort with polished bathrooms; it's raw, real, and shaped by the outback, making it the perfect place to ditch the electronics and connect with the land and each other.

Whether you're rolling out a swag at one of their 'leave-no-trace' bush campsites or enjoying a bit of rustic luxury in their gorgeous glamping tents, it caters to all travellers. Spend your days feeding orphaned lambs, exploring the paddocks on a farm tour, or taking a short trip down the road to soak in the famous warm artesian springs. Then, wind down next to a crackling campfire under a massive ceiling of stars.

So, if you're craving wide-open spaces, authentic station life, and outback memories that will stick with you forever, it’s time to pack the car and head to the Ridge. Carinya is waiting for you!

We often get asked why Bobs garden has three strands of electric fence.

This is why. 👆😂

He’s one of our regular visitors and has done his fair share of “quality control” over this year.

Just another day at Carinya.

If you can still hear the hum of the fridge… or your neighbour’s leaf blower… you’re overdue for a proper escape.

Here’s the thing.

One night isn’t enough.

Night one:
You’re still wondering if you locked the front door.

Night two:
Your shoulders finally remember they’re allowed to relax.

Night three:
You’re sitting around the campfire wondering whether you really need a mortgage, traffic… or half the stuff waiting at home.

Funny how a campfire, a sky full of stars and absolutely nowhere to be can reset your brain better than a weekend of rushing around.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is stay one more night.

Planning an outback adventure with your furry best friend?

At Carinya Station, we know pets are family!
We are a pet-friendly farm stay, but because we are a working farm, we have a few house rules to keep everyone: Pets, livestock, and guest, safe and happy.

Q: Is Carinya Station pet-friendly?
A: Yes! We love welcoming well-behaved pets to our property near Lightning Ridge.

Essential Pet Guidelines for your stay:
Leash Policy: For the safety of your pet and our livestock, all pets must be kept on a lead and under your direct supervision at all times while on the property.

Wildlife & Baiting Awareness: Being in the outback means being mindful of the environment. Please be aware that 1080 fox, pig, and wild dog baiting can be active in our region. Keeping your pet on a lead is the best way to ensure their safety.

Farm Animal Harmony: To prevent stress for our farm animals, pets must be kept completely away from all livestock enclosures and paddocks.

Waste Removal: Please be a responsible pet owner and clean up after your furry friend immediately to keep our grounds clean for everyone.

Pro-Tip for Travelers:
Before you hit the road, double-check your pet’s vaccinations and ensure their tick and flea treatments are up to date for a rural environment!

Five years ago, just before the school holidays, I got a phone call from a lady named Donna.

She wanted to bring her four city kids camping at Carinya. They’d never camped before, there was a mouse plague in full swing, and she wanted to give them an experience they’d never forget.

I told her there was definitely a mouse plague. 😂 Just keep the tent zipped up, pack a bit of extra wine, and I reckoned they’d have a great time.

They booked for three nights.

On night three, Sydney went into lockdown.

Three nights somehow turned into two weeks… and somewhere amongst the mice, campfires and complete uncertainty, lifelong friendships were made.

Fast forward five years…

That family has become part of ours, and now their eldest daughter Lily is spending her gap year here at Carinya before heading off to uni in Tassie next year.

Lily, you’re hands down our favourite surfing, pescatarian, pig chasing city chick. ❤️

You’ve copped more than your fair share of jokes, give as good as you get, throw yourself into absolutely everything, and somehow still smile through it all.

Whether it’s feeding animals, preg testing cows, helping guests, coaching the kids netball, getting roped into whatever random project I’ve dreamed up this week, or joining me on farm tours, you’ve become a pretty special part of Carinya.

Funny how a three night camping trip turned into lifelong friends.

That’s probably the thing we’re proudest of at Carinya Station.
