It really has been a tough few months! ๐ข
Reel Screamer Fishing Charters are taking a very sudden and forced break but will be ready and waiting for you when they return! ๐ฃ
Hi everyone, as most people would've heard today the state government has once again imposed sudden South Australian fishing restrictions. The implementation of the 3 month closure for King George whiting, affects our local southern yorke peninsula region and leaves us with no alternative but to temporarily suspend our charter business until at least the 31st of July. This greatly affects us personally and other tourism associated businesses in our local township. We hope these current government decisions have the desired affect and does protect the king george whiting fishery and other fish species for the future.
Unfortunately the last 12 months with the algae bloom, the negativity of the tourism industry by media when not all regions were affected, our localised coastal bloom, the constant changing of regulations from government has meant this has been the toughest period I've experienced working within the tackle industry, charter industry and or marinescale fishing industry for the last thirty five years. This sentiment i know is similarly endorsed by many of my colleagues who still work within these sectors and like myself are at the front line.
As a result, we've decided its time for Diana and myself to temporarily step back for an enforced holiday and over the next few days, i will contact all my May, June & July booking holders to notify of their cancellation. Likewise, we will still be taking bookings for after 31st July and answering our media and email enquiry system.
On a brighter note, the only positive news from today was the reinstating of the 10 king george whiting per person and this will certainly be enticing again for our customers come August.
So for the next three months, watch this space for some personal fishing holiday photos and likewise, be ready for various opportunities for our customers to enjoy a range of winter charter specials to get everyone excited. This is actually intended to kick me out of holiday mode and get me imediately back into my serious fishing mode come August.
