Beary good advice from Parks Canada.
🐻 The best bear encounter? The one that never happens.
Help protect bears in Banff National Park by preventing surprises for you and for them.
When travelling in bear country:
✔️ Make noise and travel in groups so bears know you’re there.
✔️ Keep pets on a leash and under physical control (it’s the law).
✔️ Stay on marked trails and official paths.
✔️ Carry bear spray, have it accessible and know how and when to use it: https://ow.ly/avBG50Z4VTA
✔️ Respect closures and area restrictions. They’re there to protect you and give bears space to use their habitat undisturbed.
✔️ See a wildlife carcass? Leave the area immediately and report it to Banff Dispatch at 403-762-1470.
Every small action helps keep wildlife wild.
Plan ahead and check for area closures before you head out:
