The Scandinavian term ‘Hygge’ is a word that’s hard to translate- in short ‘hygge’ means coziness. But it’s so much more. Some define ‘hygge’ as enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

‘Hygge’ brings back a concept we are losing touch with: to live in, and enjoy, the present. This is a balancing-act that Scandinavians are particularly good at: they value their ‘hygge’. ‘Hygge’ allows us to take time out and create a setting that encourages either quiet reflection or shared conversation.

‘Hygge’ is even more special in the cold, dark winter-months of November through to February. ‘Hygge’ creates the perfect balance with the sometimes, harsh environment outside, and the comfortable by a fire after a day spent in the snow.

Created by Estelle Pensiero, LOW MAINTENANCE began with a simple premise: bring established riders together with younger or less experienced ones, and make mentorship the point instead of an accidental byproduct. From the jump, the idea was to create access to a place, a style of riding, and a kind of knowledge that many people in snowboarding simply do not get handed to them.

Will came out as the winner of the ‘NICE PIECE’, a scholarship aimed at providing an opportunity to advance a media career in snowboarding. It’s been great having Will out, connecting him with the right people, and seeing his eagerness to learn and shoot. Stoked to bring this to life with and !!
