Your flight's at 6 AM. A rideshare from downtown Victoria to YYJ at 4:30 AM is a very different conversation than the same trip at noon. Surge pricing, driver availability, and a much longer drive all stack up before you've even had coffee.

If you're staying with us in Sidney, that math changes completely. Our complimentary shuttle runs from 4:00 AM to 11:30 PM, with drop-offs every 30 minutes before 9 AM. The terminal is 7 to 8 minutes away, and the ride is included in your stay. ✈

Rideshare still makes sense for some travelers, especially if you're coming from Victoria or somewhere else on the island and not staying near the airport. Door-to-door flexibility is genuinely useful when you need it.

But if the goal is a quiet, guaranteed, no-cost transfer for that early morning flight, staying in Sidney the night before is the easier route. You sleep closer, you leave later, and you know exactly when your ride is showing up.

Which one wins for your next YYJ trip. shuttle or rideshare? β˜•

Two kinds of travelers exist in this world.

Team A: 4:00 AM alarm, coffee spilled on the counter, GPS says you'll make it "just in time," and you're negotiating with every red light between home and the terminal.

Team B: Checked in the night before, bags by the door, shuttle booked, breakfast at 5:00 AM, and a seven-minute ride to YYJ while Team A is still looking for their boarding pass.

Our shuttle runs from 4:00 AM to 11:30 PM. Hot breakfast starts at 5:00. And we're a short walk from the terminal, so even the earliest flights feel less like a sprint and more like a slow morning. ✈

So which one are you? And more importantly, which one is the person you travel with? Tag them. We already know how this is going to go. 😴

Missed the 3pm sailing out of Swartz Bay? You are not alone this month.

Mid-July through mid-August is the tightest stretch of the year for BC Ferries, and a two or three sailing wait can turn a "quick connection" to YYJ into a genuinely stressful evening. When your flight is the next morning, that math stops working.

Here is the calmer version: roll off the ferry, drive seven minutes up the highway, and check in with us in Sidney. We are also seven minutes from the Victoria Airport terminal, so you get a real night of sleep, a hot breakfast starting at 5:00 AM, and our shuttle waiting when you are ready to fly.

Think of it less as a backup plan and more as a buffer, the kind of small trip decision that protects everything else you have booked.

Flying out during peak ferry weeks? Give yourself the overnight cushion. Your future, well-rested self will thank you. ✈

Early flight tomorrow, or a slow morning before checkout?

Our hot breakfast runs from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM, which means it works for both kinds of travellers. The 5 AM crowd fills up before the sun is even thinking about rising, coffee in hand, ready to beat the terminal rush. The 10 AM crowd rolls in still half-asleep, grabs a plate, and eases into the day at their own pace.

Same breakfast. Two very different mornings. Both included with your stay.

It is one of those small things that makes the start of a trip feel less like a scramble and more like the actual beginning of your vacation, whether you are flying out of Victoria International or exploring the Saanich Peninsula for the day.

So which one are you, the 5 AM plate-piler or the sleep-until-checkout type? Tell us in the comments. β˜•

Most travelers land in Victoria, grab a rental car, and drive right past Sidney without realizing what is on the other side of our parking lot.

There is a full block of everyday life just steps from the front door. Dickens Pub is next door, and hotel guests get 20% off regular-priced food, which turns a layover dinner into an actual sit-down meal.

Need groceries, a phone charger, or a bottle of wine for the room? Thrifty Foods, Pharmasave, and Dollarama are all on the same block. No car required.

A short walk further, Beacon Avenue opens up with local restaurants, small shops, and the Mary Winspear Centre. It is the kind of main street that makes a one-night stopover feel like the start of a proper trip.

The best airport stays are the ones where you forget you are near an airport. ✈

First morning in Sidney. Bikes or breakfast? 🚲🍳

It's a harder call than it sounds. Our complimentary cruisers are parked and ready to roll down to the waterfront, past the bookshops on Beacon Avenue, and along the seawall before most of town is awake.

Or you stay put. The hot breakfast is out from 5am to 10am, which is a rare thing to find at an airport hotel. Eggs, waffles, coffee that's actually ready when your early flight is.

Both are included with your stay. Neither is wrong. Some guests do one, then come back for the other.

So tell us β€” where are you starting your day in Sidney?

Most guests don't realize our free shuttle runs on a schedule, not on demand. That small detail changes how smooth your morning feels.

Between 4:00am and 9:00am, drop-offs to Victoria International leave every 30 minutes. After 9:00am, they run hourly. So if your flight is at 6:15am, you already know exactly when to be in the lobby, coffee in hand.

Coming back is even easier. When you land, give the front desk a quick call and we'll send the shuttle. The drive is only 7 to 8 minutes, so you're not standing curbside for long.

One more thing worth knowing: hot breakfast runs from 5:00am to 10:00am. Even on an early departure, there's real time for eggs, bacon, and pancakes before you go. Swipe through for the full rundown. ✈

August is almost over. The kids go back in two weeks, and the summer that felt wide open in June suddenly has a deadline on it.

If you've been meaning to get to Sidney this is the window. Late August out here is quietly one of the best stretches of the year, warm days, quiet evenings, and the waterfront seawall right outside our front door.

The pool is still open 9am to 9pm, so there's time for one more afternoon of doing absolutely nothing. Breakfast is included in the morning (served from 5:00am, so early risers aren't left out). And the BC Ferry terminal is a 7-minute drive away if you want to hop over to the mainland or the islands.

No big planning required. Pack the bags, come to Sidney, and let the last summer weekend actually feel like summer.

One more trip before the routines lock back in. Worth it, isn't it? β˜€

Most people picture an airport hotel as a beige room, a vending machine down the hall, and a gas station across the street for dinner.

Sidney had other plans.

Step outside our front door and you're on a walkable block with Thrifty Foods for groceries, Pharmasave if you forgot the essentials, a liquor store, and dozens of local restaurants within a few minutes on foot. Dickens Pub is right next door, and hotel guests get 20% off the tab. ✈

Wake up hungry? Hot breakfast runs from 5 AM to 10 AM with pancakes, bacon, eggs, and the full spread included in your stay. Early flight or slow morning, we've got you covered either way.

Grocery run and a pub dinner, or takeout from a local spot and breakfast on us in the morning? Either way, the vending machine stays untouched. 🍳
