Here’s a little check list!
Winter Check List For Closing.
Water System & Plumbing (Critical)
Drain Tanks: Empty fresh, gray, and black water holding tanks completely. Flush the black tank.
Water Heater: Turn off electric breaker and gas. Open relief valve, pull the drain plug/anode rod, and clear water. Set bypass valve to bypass mode.
Low-Point Drains: Open low-point drains (hot/cold) until empty, then close tightly.
RV Antifreeze: Pump non-toxic RV antifreeze (pink) through the plumbing lines via internal pump until it flows from every tap, indoor/outdoor shower, and toilet.
P-Traps & Outside Lines: Pour 1–2 cups of RV antifreeze into each sink, shower drain P-trap, and toilet bowl. Disconnect, drain, and store all exterior hoses, regulators, and filters.
2. Interior & Appliances
Clear Perishables: Remove all food, liquids, and items that freeze or attract pests.
Refrigerator: Defrost, clean thoroughly, and prop the doors open to prevent mold and odors.
Moisture Control: Place moisture absorbers (e.g., DampRid) in main room, kitchen, and bathroom.
Shades & Vents: Lower window blinds to prevent UV damage; ensure all roof vents are fully closed.
3. Site & Exterior (Park Compliance)
Propane: Turn off main valves on LP tanks. Cover regulator assemblies.
Batteries: Disconnect trailer batteries and store indoors in a temperature-controlled space, or hook up to a trickle charger. Remove dry-cell batteries from smoke detectors and remotes.
Pest Proofing: Block entry points underneath using steel wool. Place peppermint oil or dryer sheets in cabinets. Place mesh covers over external appliance vents.
Canvas & Awnings: Ensure awnings and canvas additions are 100% dry before stowing to prevent mold growth.
Deck & Yard: Clean, stack, or secure all outdoor deck furniture, barbecues, and shed items. Turn off exterior hydro pedestals/breakers as directed by park rules.
