One weekend a year, exceptional sites open their doors to the public for free during the Heritage Days (Journées du Patrimoine). Discover the one-day itinerary we followed this year starting from our hotel, and let yourself be tempted for next year:
1. The Luxembourg Garden Greenhouses 🌿: These house an impressive botanical collection, including over 1,300 varieties of orchids! You can meet the friendly team that tends to them daily, away from the garden’s many visitors.
2. The Paris Court of Appeal ⚖️: Located in the heart of the Île de la Cité, right next to Sainte-Chapelle, the Paris Court of Appeal occupies the historic Palais de Justice. This is notably where Marie-Antoinette stood trial in 1793. An audio guide and people on site are available throughout the visit to share the history of the place and answer questions.
3. The Élysée Palace 🏛️: Built in the 18th century, the Élysée Palace has been the official residence of the President of the Republic since 1873. Napoleon Bonaparte also stayed here in 1815! The tour lasts about three hours and takes you through numerous rooms spanning different eras, each reflecting the personal touch of those who lived there. Élysée staff members are also present to talk with visitors!
See you next year to discover more new places!
