What's hiding beneath the streets of Bath? Roman pottery, coins and part of a military helmet, it turns out 🏛️

During the £20m renovation of the Assembly Rooms, archaeologists uncovered a network of Roman ditches, along with pottery, glassware, coins and a fragment of a military helmet.

Experts believe the finds could mean Roman Bath stretched further than we knew, with more remains likely to lie beneath the neighbouring streets.

The artefacts will go on temporary display when the Assembly Rooms reopen in 2027. Learn more here:

Thousands took to the streets of Bath ...and they were dressed for 1813 👗🎩

The Grand Regency Costumed Promenade set off from the Royal Crescent to kick off Bath's Jane Austen Festival in spectacular style. Thousands lined the streets in full period dress to celebrate the author who called Bath home for much of her life.
