Welcome to The Old Gate Inn in Bridge Canterbury

Dating back to 1728, the inn was built near the Toll Gate and was originally known as the Sign of the Gate. The first landlord was Richard Howard, who also collected the tolls and was a trained tallow chandler (maker of candles). A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for sav

ouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.
