Parsonage Farm Parsonage Farm hosts three beautiful holiday properties set on the Coleridge Way in the heart of Exmoor.

The Parsonage Farm Stables sleeps 4, The Parsonage Otter Stables sleeps 3 and our Xanadu shepherds hut sleeps 2 For those who love unspoilt countryside, there are few locations as beguiling as Parsonage Farm. Set 850 ft high up on the Exmoor coast overlooking the Bristol Channel, it is truly a magical location. In Summer, it offers families and couples the perfect break from everyday life. Remote, yet within 20 mins of the picturesque little village of Porlock, it is the perfect base for walking or touring Exmoor. The gorgeous sandy beaches of North Devon are within an hour's drive. In the Winter, it becomes a cosy refuge from the weather, and a welcome return after a hard day's walking. It's also within easy reach of several excellent restaurants, you'll find our personal favourites on this FB site. Dogs are welcome - and, with its enclosed garden, Parsonage Farm Stables is particularly toddler-friendly! Coleridge is reputed to have written 'Kubla Khan' in this valley, so the sense of history is tangible. Come along, chill out and experience a modern holiday which conjures up the atmosphere of a gentler, more ancient world.

With autumn evenings the Xanadu shepherds hut really comes into its own.
🍂🍂🍂
Autumn vibes and cozy nights. Snuggle up and listen to the wind Outside and Benefit from underfloor heating and a wood burner inside.
🍂🍂🍂
Watch the scenery changing in front of you, it’s just like sitting in the middle of nature and you can sometimes watch the deer from bedroom window.
🌈🌈🌈
It’s still warm enough to sit outside and stargaze and watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Overlooking the sea where mist rolls in over the fields and the bay of rainbows lives up to its name.
✨✨✨
A perfect place in the quiet to recharge in the Exmoor countryside with all this beauty.

We still have availability for October.

I had a little visit to stoke pero church which is one of the churches on The Porlock Pilgrim’s Trail.

⛪️🔔

It’s the highest and most isolated church on exmoor and is so atmospheric. I could hear the wind whirling and whistling up through the floor and feel the vibrations my core and the echoing sent shivers.

🍃✨🍃

There’s Some very interesting stories about this hamlet and parish and all the other churches on this 29 mile route. The pilgrims trail links nine of Exmoor’s churches and chapels.

🥾🥾🥾

These paths have been walked and ridden by clergy and parishioners for hundreds of years. The Trail can be walked in two loops, they are both 15 miles long and both start in Porlock, they can also be done in shorter day walks.

🗺️🧭🗺️

The Porlock Pilgrims trail churches are :

⛪️ St Dubricious church in Porlock,
⛪️ St Nicholas tin tabernacle Church at Porlock Weir,
⛪️ St Beunos at Culbone,
⛪️ The Church of The Blessed Virgin Mary in Oare,
⛪️ Stoke pero church,
⛪️ The Church of St Mary the Virgin in Luccombe,
⛪️ The Chapel of St Leonard in Tivington,
⛪️ The church of all saints in Selworthy and ⛪️ Lynch Chapel of ease in Bossington.

Our shepherds hut sits in One of the most secluded corners of Exmoor. Where you can relax in privacy with very little road noise and no neighbors. Just rolling fields and a view straight out over the bay. The smallest church of culbone is a short walk through the woods, As is the south west coast path and the Coleridge way. We do have a couple vacancies still for August if this sounds like a way you would like to enjoy the summer. A treat or a last minute break, or even book now for the autumn. All seasons are breathtaking on exmoor.

You still have a few days left to enter, and what better place to stay for inspiration then here at Parsonage Farm. The Parsonage plays a pivotal role in Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s story, it is reputed he was staying here when he wrote Kubla Khan and was inspired by our landscape, the whole area has a strong connection to The Romanticism era and the Parsonage sits in the heart of it. There are many other literary connections close by.

Only two weeks left to enter our poetry competition!

We are looking for poems on any theme, with a maximum of 40 lines. The winner will receive £50 and have their work published in the Exmoor Review, our flagship annual journal.

Huge thanks to local resident and published poet and critic, Tom Cain, who has once again agreed to judge our competition.

The competition is free to enter, and the closing date is midnight on Tuesday 30th June. Enter via our website below:
