What a difference a bit of rain makes. Grass court completely recovered in just 3 weeks. Flowers are blooming having been holding back in the drought

The lawns might be scorched but the upside of our hot summer is growing ripe melons out of the borders self seeded from our compost. Nice change from pumpkins!
We’ll be looking to planting Mediterranean crops next year.

That’s what gets me about the South Hams - I get down to one of my favourite beaches and someone else is on it! No privacy, no sound of fellow humans landing in the local airport just bleeding lapping water, and 23 degrees again for 6 long weeks, and even the sea isn’t refreshingly cold anymore.
What we have to put up with down here in West Devon!
