We’re often asked for local food recommendations and our go-to all-rounder has to be the Ship inn, right next to Cathedral Green. It’s a 15th Century pub with good quality food and a lovely piratey vibe. Most of the independents close on Sunday & Monday for a break but the ship sails on through, 7 days a week, however rough the seas. Even Sir Frances Drake loved it, though legend has it that he was once barred and now returns to haunt the place!

Beautiful coffees in the morning and amazing pizza for dinner? And just a few minutes walk from us? The new Portal Pizza & Cafe is definitely going on our recommended list.

Deer oh deer! We’re all ready for Santa! The Exeter Christmas market is in full swing, with independent traders, street food and, of course, the beer tent! Plus, entry to the Cathedral is free throughout the festive season!

We finally made it back to one of our favourite spots for a lovely dinner after exploring the 2023 Exeter Christmas Market. Indulged in some lovely wine, nibbles, starters (including this scallop w/ hogs pudding, mains then a dessert to share… plus more wine… and probably a VT somewhere in there, too. Such a lovely, convivial atmosphere. Can just about remember the walk home! It’s Chriiiistmaaaas once again in Exeter!
