Twice Brewed Bonfire & Fireworks 🎆💫
An epic 30 minute firework display at 7pm.

Access is through our carpark and garden, located behind our main pub building.

𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱:
Milecastle Inn Pizzas, bonfire burgers and doghnut's will be available on the event field.

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻: We have a hook a duck stall, candy floss and light up glow sticks for sale. If weather permits, there will also be an inflatable for little ones to enjoy.

The event field opens 5pm, the bonfire will be lit at 6:30pm and fireworks begin at 7pm.

𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀: Miranda Newton will be playing in the outdoor tent, between 6 and 6:45pm, for all to enjoy fireside. Jason Arnup will be playing in the restaurant, from approx 7:30pm.

PARKING
For 2026, we will have an overflow carpark in the field almost directly opposite to the pub. This will be signposted from the cross roads beside The Sill. This field has very generously been provided by a local farmer, so please be respectful and take all rubbish with you. The road crossing will be lit up, but bringing a torch with you is highly recommended! Please, please do not park on the main roadside. There is limited accessible parking in our pub carpark for blue badge holders - please arrive early.

🍂 NEW FOR THE AUTUMN AND WINTER: TALKS AT TWICE BREWED! 🍂

Join us at the Twice Brewed Inn for a fascinating new series of three illustrated talks exploring the landscapes, rocks and stories of Hadrian’s Wall country and the wider north of England.

Led by a local author, Ian Jackson, whose books explore the remarkable geology and landscapes of the region, these talks will bring the history beneath our feet to life through engaging presentations and illustrations.

Come along, grab a drink, enjoy some food and settle in for an evening of discovery in the welcoming surroundings of Twice Brewed.

Whether you’re passionate about local history, geology, landscape or simply curious about the countryside around you, there should be something to capture your imagination.

📚 There will also be an opportunity to buy copies of the author’s books, with proceeds going to charity.

Starting and returning from Twice Brewed Inn car park, there is a fantastic circular walk that takes in some of the best scenery on Hadrian’s Wall.

⏰2-3 hours circular route

1. Start at the car park
Head out the carpark, cross the road and head up the hill towards Steel Rigg carpark. Leave through the small gate marked Hadrian’s Wall just before the car park and follow the path until you reach the Wall, climbing the stone steps onto Peel Crags.

2. Follow the Wall
This is the spectacular part of the walk. The path undulates along the top of the crags, with some fairly steep sections. You’ll reach Milecastle 39 and then the famous Sycamore Gap.

One important point: the famous sycamore tree was deliberately felled in September 2023, so the tree itself is no longer there, but the gap remains an impressive viewpoint.

3. Crag Lough
Continue east along the Wall towards Highshield Crags. You’ll get excellent views down towards Crag Lough, a glacial lake beneath the Wall.

4. The return
Rather than continuing all the way to Housesteads, the circular route leaves the Wall and heads back through fields, tracks and woodland.

You’ll eventually reach the road and see our beautiful white building below you. Come in, the fires on and dinner is served. 🍁🔥
