Shell Island started off as a farm dating back to the Doomsday book of 1086. The Island developed as a tourist attraction in the 1880’s with the coming of the railways. With its unique location on the North Cardigan bay, in the Snowdonia National Park, it attracts families from all over the UK and Europe for camping holidays and day visits. With over 450 acres, of which 300 acres are available for

camping, Shell Island has developed into one of the largest camping sites in Europe. Shell Island appeals strongly to those who love un-spoilt countryside, and those who appreciate quietness. So whether you come for the day, or a weeks holiday, Shell Island offers everybody their own piece of paradise.

Enjoy the rest of the day after you have packed away. Infact, this applies everyday, and new campers are shocked when we tell them this. No 10am to pack up and be off the pitch at Shell Island!
You don’t need to clear your pitch until 3pm, and then you can stay on site until 8pm this evening, so there’s plenty of time to relax and enjoy the rest of the day before heading home.

Why not stop for a delicious roast dinner in the Snackbar, soak up the sunshine down at the harbour with a frappe and seafood basket from Coffee on the Quay, treat yourself to an ice cream from the gift shop, and pick up snacks for the drive home at the supermarket. ☀️🍦🦞🛍️

Make the most of your visit and enjoy a lovely relaxing last day with us! 😊

****Traffic warning after the tide goes down****
Tide will cover the road today at 1018-1308.
We expect a huge amount of traffic to leave the Island after the tide, which may cause delays in getting to the village junction of up to an hour from the back of the que.
So, no need to rush off this morning or after the tide!
Enjoy the rest of the day after you have packed away. Infact, this applies everyday, and new campers are shocked when we tell them this. No 10am to pack up and be off the pitch at shell island!

🚨 IMPORTANT INFORMATION – DISPOSABLE BBQ BAN 🚨

Following the Government ban on the sale of disposable BBQs, we have made the decision to BAN THE USE OF ALL DISPOSABLE BBQs across Shell Island with immediate effect.

🔥 DISPOSABLE BBQs MUST NOT BE USED ANYWHERE ON SITE – INCLUDING THE BEACH.

✅ Gas and traditional charcoal BBQs are still permitted, provided they are:

* Raised safely off the ground
* Used for cooking only
* Kept under supervision at all times
* Used with water nearby in case of emergency

🔥 ALL FIRES ALSO REMAIN STRICTLY BANNED – INCLUDING ON THE BEACH.

These restrictions are in place to help protect our campsite, surrounding countryside and everyone staying with us.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
