The countdown is on. In just ten days, Tattershall Castle will be transformed into a bustling medieval encampment as the Plantagenet Medieval Society brings history to life this August bank holiday.
From Saturday 23 to Monday 25 August, visitors can experience the sights, sounds and stories of the 14th century. Witness fully armoured knights in thrilling foot combat, try your hand at archery, and join in with courtly dancing and squire training. With living history displays, musicians, crafts and castle tours, it’s a weekend packed with pageantry and adventure.
No booking needed, standard admission applies.
Events start from 10.30am, last entry at 3.30pm.

This female Muntjac only produces eyeshine on her right eye so we guess she has no or little sight in her left, otherwise she looks healthy (they love the corn in the feeders) and watch until the end of the video as she turns to show her size, we reckon she may be pregnant, time of year is no help as Muntjac Deer can breed at anytime of the year. We'll keep the cameras out and see if we get lucky.

Forgive the camera angle but we weren't expecting to see a new baby Muntjac, filmed just over a month ago this is the only footage we have of any youngster born this year.

After being closed for just over 2 years due to renovation works carried out after covid closure we have finally re-opened, our new booking agent is now Sykes Cottages but we can offer a discount for direct bookings. Hope you're all keeping cool in this heat. We have doubled the amount of drinkers around the place but the young Muntjac in the video seems more interested in the Pheasants. More videos to follow.

Been a while since our last post but had to put this up as it's the first time we have ever seen a Roe Deer in the garden (albeit a fleeting glimpse). There is a well trodden wildlife path past the bottom of the ancient Mirabelle Plum tree and this shows the Roe Deer, and a Muntjac Doe and Buck in the same place the following day. Hope you are all keeping safe and well.

Being closed has given us more time to leave the camera traps out, and thankfully we've caught a glimpse of what goes on in the woods.
