Meet Ted & Jill Amor ..
This photo says more than any building ever could.
Before The Griffin Inn became a Newquay landmark, there were two people whose hard work, vision and determination helped create so many of the memories people still talk about today…

For decades they welcomed locals, holidaymakers, families, friends and generations of customers through their doors through many eras we cannot get back!
From The Doublestiles Hotel…
To The Penthouse Hotel & Restaurant…
And eventually to what would become The Griffin Inn we know and love today.
But this story isn’t really about bricks and mortar.
It’s about the people.
A time when pubs were the heart of the community.
When families gathered every weekend.
When celebrations lasted all night with lock ins
When everyone seemed to know everyone.
When friendships were made at the bar and stories were shared over a cigarette & pint. When you could go out on a £5!
Thousands of people have walked through these doors over the years.
First dates.
Wedding receptions.
Birthday parties.
Family meals.
Christmas drinks.
Sunday Carveries.
Holiday traditions.
Wakes
And behind so many of those memories were Ted & Jill.
Today, Steve (Ted and Jill’s son) proudly continues the family tradition, but none of it would exist without the foundations they built and the countless hours they dedicated to Newquay hospitality. Thank you Jill & Ted and now Steve Amor.
