We explored Lochawe in Argyll this week. Our kids gifted us a getaway at Ben Cruachan Inn - Restaurant and Pub with Rooms which was lovely. Our original plan had been to climb Ben Cruachan and Stob Daimh but as per my previous post a nasty cold/cough put paid to that.
We still had a great time visiting St Conans Kirk, Loch Awe and Kilchurn Castle and Cruachan - The Hollow Mountain

This is day 13 of trying to throw off a cold. A persistent cough has been a bit wearing.

Today I made this soothing drink:

Juice of half a lemon (organic)
2 teaspoons of honey ( mine was BeeHype Ginger and Turmeric infused raw honey)
BeeHype Honey
Hot water in a mug

Stir, sit in the sun (Vit D), sip and recover 🍋🍵🐝🌞

I've also been doing:
Steam inhalation
Vit C
Lots of fluids
Rest (sort of)
No cold showers
No long walks
Slow deep breaths for lung expansion
Ibuprofen and paracetamol for sore ribs

Check out this lovely painting, by Millais. Our lodges are right where the nuns are standing 🏕🛖🏠

This painting by Millais was posted to one of my friends on their timeline. It reminded me of why I have an affinity with it.

This painting by Millais — Sir Isumbras at the Ford — is not just a beautiful Pre-Raphaelite image.

The scene is based on Bridge of Earn. The old bridge is in the background, and the figures are fording the river roughly where the newer bridge now stands.

Even better, the “castle” in the distance appears to be based on the old three-storey building at Earnbank, in the village — though Millais clearly gave it a rather grand medieval makeover!

And the spot where the nuns are standing? The lodges where my studio is now sit just behind there.

So, in a strange way, this famous painting feels very close to home — part local landscape, part myth, part imagination.
