Singer songwriters, alt country, folk, psyche whatever takes our fancy really. Best of the local pool of talent plus the finest acts from around the country EVERY THURSDAY NIGHT @ THE RAILWAY HOTEL, CLIFFTOWN ROAD, SOUTHEND ADMISSION FREE - WHIP ROUND FOR THE ARTISTES - PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY!!! ***Please note this is NOT OPEN MIC*

Our Story

SHANGRI-LA is an intimate, laid back shindig in the best room above the best pub in Southend. Hosted by Lance and Tom of popular beat combos Cusack, Dark Globes, Son Of Buff etc. Singer songwriters, alt country, folk, lo-fi, psyche and the odd bit of spoken word whatever takes our fancy really. Never sh*t...or rarely! Shangri-la aims to bring the very best of the local pool of talent plus the finest acts from around the country. In the early days (2007-2010) this used to be every Thursday but now it’s more of an ad-hoc affair. It is almost always free admission but we do rely on the audience to give generously when the hat/pot/huge bucket is passed around. All money goes to the artistes ***Please note this is not an Open Mic night! Please also be aware if an act is a quiet one we do like a bit of hush :-) See y’all soon***
