Staff, students and friends of NSCG have worked together to raise an 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 £𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬 in support of UHNM Charity and the Royal Stoke Cancer Centre.

The fundraising campaign was supported by Level 2 Engineering students Jacob Bould and Mykhailo Tsymbal, alongside Engineering Lecturer Roger Sharman and T Level Placement Officer Gemma Shelley in response to Roger's own treatment at the Centre over the last ten years. For nearly six months, the group dedicated their time to a variety of fundraising activities, including several college stalls selling handcrafted items made by Roger.

Nick and Sue Brandrick of Wood Farm in Tean, the family farm of Gemma, also played a key role by hosting events such as a Christmas Grotto and Fayre, helping to raise both money and awareness for the cause. The fundraising now continues, with the team aiming to reach a new target of £1,500.

𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 of our staff, students and wider NSCG community for pulling together for such a worthy cause. 🧡

A little update from Wood Farm….

We’re delighted to share that the money raised from the Christmas Fair has been handed over to the UHNM Cancer Centre today.

Your generosity and support will make a real difference, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part.

From our wonderful stall holders and visitors, to every single helper who gave their time and energy — whether that was decorating the barn, welcoming guests, or parking cars on the field — we truly couldn’t have done it without you. A special thank you to Dorothy Hurst who kindly donated all of the cake sale money towards this fund.

The chosen charity this year has been selected due to the care that my lovely colleague Roger Sharman; from NSCG, has received over the last 10 years at the Centre.

Roger raised additional funds during December to hit this combined target, through the sale of his beautifully handcrafted goods. He couldn’t have done this without the support of some of our students at NSCG, whose hard work and enthusiasm are very much appreciated.

Now it’s time for the fundraising to begin in 2026….watch this space!

We can’t wait to open and see our lovely guests at Easter!

Thanks,

Gemma (Nick and Sue’s daughter), on behalf of Nick and Sue and all at Wood Farm

And that’s a wrap! 🎅🤶🎄🌲

Thank you to each and every one of our stall holders, customers, and volunteer helpers for attending today’s annual Wood Farm grotto.

It’s been a wonderful afternoon; full of both old and new faces, stalls and visitors. And most importantly - a visit from the main man! 🎅🎁

This year, the money raised for charity will be donated to the RSUH Cancer Centre, to help buy furniture for their newly opened extension.

A great cause, and something that we hope will go a small way in helping those in need.

Thank you once again for your support - as many of you know, this event has been going on for over 2 decades now, and it’s lovely to see so many familiar faces year on year!

Whilst we still have a few Christmas events going on at the farm in the coming weeks, we’d like to take this opportunity to wish eveyone a very Merry Christmas, and thank you for your ongoing support in raising money for charity ❤️🎄🎅
