COLIN IS ALIVE!!!

After his mysterious disappearance following the sighting of Mr Fox, we're pleased to report that Colin has been spotted alive and kicking in the horses' paddock!

Where he's been hiding, we have no idea.

Perhaps he was enjoying a little holiday of his own, or maybe he just wanted to keep us guessing.

The plot thickens though...

Mr Fox is still hanging around the farm, and this week he was spotted with a friend.
Whether they're simply enjoying the local scenery or have their eyes on our feathered celebrity, we can't say.

For now, Colin seems completely unbothered and is carrying on as normal.

Stay tuned for further updates from the wildlife soap opera that is life at Cedar Holme!

Colin Update!

Since Mr Fox was spotted casually wandering across the lawn earlier last week, our resident pheasant Colin has gone suspiciously quiet...

In fact, nobody has seen him at all.

Now, we're hoping he's simply found himself a lady friend and is off showing off his impressive feathers elsewhere. After all, Colin has always been quite the character.

We'll keep our eyes peeled and let you know if he makes a reappearance.

A little early morning visitor this week…

This fox casually wandered across the lawn like he owned the place.

One of the lovely things about life at Cedar Holme is you never quite know what wildlife you’re bump in to.

Meet our newest resident… Colin

Colin is a pheasant who has apparently decided that the farm is now his territory — and honestly, he’s settled in very quickly.

He can usually be seen (and definitely heard) wandering around the farm, showing off and keeping an eye on everything that’s going on.

He’s particularly fond of hanging around when the girls are nearby and clearly thinks he’s quite the catch.

Between the horses, guinea fowl, deer and now Colin, there’s always some kind of wildlife drama happening at Cedar Holme

One of our favourite things about welcoming guests to Cedar Holme… the welcome pack.

We love adding those little extra touches to help guests feel at home from the moment they arrive.

After your journey there’s nothing nicer than walking into a warm, cosy cottage and finding a few treats waiting for you.

And yes… we make sure our four-legged guests get spoiled too.

It’s all part of making Cedar Holme feel less like a holiday cottage… and more like a proper home-from-home.

Today definitely feels like a breakfast in bed kind of day…

The weather’s a bit meh, the temperature seems to have dropped again, and honestly? We’re fully embracing cosy mode.

Fresh coffee or tea, warm pastry, fluffy blankets and staying tucked up a little longer sounds like the perfect plan to us.

Luckily Cedar Holme is made for days like this

Cedar Holme is more than just a holiday cottage, it’s part of the farm and has grown out of a place that’s been home for generations.

Set on the edge of the countryside in Wingerworth, it’s been lovingly cared for and thoughtfully refurbished to create a cosy, comfortable space while still keeping that warm, homely feel.

Surrounded by fields, wildlife and big Derbyshire skies, it’s a place to slow down, switch off, and enjoy a little slice of countryside life.

We have limited May, June & July availability and a few dates lefts for August. So if you are thinking about coming to stay, get a date booked in now.

Out and about earlier, I had to do a bit of a double take when a tiny thrush fledgling suddenly hopped out of my way!

Still small and a little bit fluffy, it was clearly just starting to find its feet (and wings!). It paused for a moment, had a good look around, and then carried on about its business like it owned the place.

This time of year is full of moments like this — young birds venturing out for the first time, learning the ropes, and keeping us on our toes as we wander about.

Just a gentle reminder to keep an eye out when you’re walking around — you never know what little character you might come across

Evenings Done Right at Cedar Holme.

There’s something pretty special about sitting back, glass of wine in hand, and soaking up the views over Chesterfield…

As the day winds down and the light starts to soften, everything feels that little bit calmer.

The fields stretch out in front of you, the town sits quietly in the distance, and it’s the perfect moment to just be.

No rush, no noise — just good company, a favourite drink, and a view that never gets old.

Simple pleasures… but the best kind

If you’re looking for a beautiful spot to explore during your stay, Dovedale is an absolute must.

Not too far from Cedar Holme, it’s one of the most loved places in the Peak District — and it’s easy to see why. Think peaceful riverside walks, stunning limestone scenery, and of course the famous stepping stones across the River Dove.

It’s perfect for all kinds of days out — whether you fancy a gentle stroll, a longer hike, or just a scenic picnic with a view. And if you’re bringing the dog, they’ll love it just as much as you do.

It’s one of those places that feels a little bit magical, whatever the season.

Have you visited Dovedale before? Or is it on your list for your next stay?
