A Massive Wave of Sargassum Seaweed has officially triggered a “red alert” across the Mexican Caribbean.

While Cancun is taking a massive hit, the crisis actually stretches all the way down the coastline to Mahahual. So, Quintana Roo (Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, etc.) is impacted in this health alert.

It appears that this is the stuff that went by our island a few weeks ago. As of today, our location on Roatan is doing just fine.

The top photo is the Windward (south) side of the Island.
The bottom photo is the Leeward (north) side of the island.
Fortunately, for us, Hummingbird Casitas is on the north shore, and that photo was taken today from our beach.

We are thankful that the ocean currents are still working in our favor, so that the majority of the time, that messy, smelly stuff goes right by us on its way to Belize & Mexico.

We're keeping our fingers crossed.
