Sailing Away
Sailing away into the end of summer,
where golden sunlight meets the sea,
the days still warm, the breezes softer,
and waves keep calling back to me.
Sun upon my shoulders,
sand beneath my feet,
the ocean paints the horizon
in shades of blue so sweet.
There’s still time for lazy afternoons,
for salty air and skies of gold,
for barefoot walks along the shore
and memories waiting to unfold.
Though summer’s days are drifting by,
I’ll hold their warmth within my heart—
for every sunset, every tide,
is a promise that will never part.
So let the sails catch the evening breeze,
and carry us where dreams may roam—
sailing gently into September,
while summer whispers, “You’re not home yet.”
