One year ago today, we followed our hearts to this fabulous town of Camden to embark upon an incredible hospitality adventure here at the Captain Swift Inn. 🥂
If you’re new here, I’m Jessica Gilman and hospitality is my passion. Prior to moving to Camden, we lived in New York City where I created, owned and operated a beloved breakfast restaurant, BEC (BEC). I closed BEC during the pandemic and we moved to Maine where my husband, Matt, was born and raised. We have 8-year old twins, George & Sella, who are rising 3rd graders at Camden-Rockport Elementary School (and mini innkeepers on the weekends). I’m a graduate of the Cornell Hotel School and Harvard Business School, and obsessed with crafting exceptional guest experiences.
Looking back, our expectations have been wildly exceeded. From the greatest local schools and the warmest community we could have ever imagined, to welcoming wonderful guests through our doors every day — we are beyond happy, incredibly humbled and deeply grateful for our life in Camden.
To celebrate our 1-year anniversary, we’re treating our amazing guests to these gorgeous custom cupcakes from our friends at laughloudsmilebig. YUM! 🧁✨
As if this milestone wasn’t sweet enough — we’re also thrilled to share some exciting news: Captain Swift Inn has been named a finalist as a 2026 Best Craft Lodging Property in the Northeast by Select Registry! We’re so honored to share this nomination with some of the best inns in the country, and we’re extremely thankful to everyone who voted for us.
Thank you to everyone who has welcomed us, supported us and made this past year an absolute dream. Here’s to year one in the books, and many, many more to come! We have so many fun plans for the future — follow along as our journey continues. 💛
