The home that is now The Inn at Ragged Edge was originally constructed in 1900–1901 as a Gilded Age retreat for Colonel Moorhead C. Kennedy, a railroad executive whose world was shaped by travel, arrival, and connection.

Designed by Frank Furness, the estate reflected the elegance of its era, complete with private rail access, manicured grounds, and interiors intended for gathering on a grand scale.

Throughout its early history, it hosted military leaders, political figures, and visiting dignitaries, becoming a place defined by hospitality long before it became an inn.

Over a century later, it's been lovingly restored into the boutique inn it is today, with the original hand-carved stairways, mahogany-paneled rooms, and creekside grounds still very much intact.
