The Alaska Department of Fish & Game has announced that the Russian River Sanctuary will open early, beginning 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, giving anglers even more opportunity to target the strong run of sockeye salmon.

With over 6,000 sockeye already past the Russian River weir and projections looking good, it’s shaping up to be an exciting season!

"Cozy cabins, fun bar and restaurant. Beautiful scenery of snow-capped mountains all around the property. They also have a Pavillion on the property and they were hosting a free classic concert! Amazing stop between Anchorage and Homer. Highly recommend."
