It's been over 10 years since our antique bowling machine has worked...but thanks to our guest Bill Gaul It's up and running. He refurbished the pinball machine last year and now the bowling machine which was a tedious and difficult task!

The juke box, pinball and the bowling machine are each a quarter to play! Yes kids only 25 cents to play an actual game with real moving parts!

Helen will be 101 years old in October...fishing has always been a key part of her life. And her son Bill, along with Buddy his rescue dog, are all enjoying the splendor of fishing on the Chippewa Flowage together. Helen has become like a mother to John & I and we appreciate learning the secrets to a long life...fishing and humor. Love you Helen

You can't post a fish picture without the story that goes with it! So here goes...

After working all day and ancy to get on the water because the conditions looked sooooo good finally we jumped in the boat. It was the third spot we fished but we had a follow to the boat on a creeper the night before so Mr. Precision, John Dettloff, lines us up as the wind was picking up. There was a storm front to the north of us and another to the south and no rain gear in the boat. I was casting my very experienced Fat Bastard, trying to swizzle between the w**ds and rip it through if it got hung up. I threw out a 35+ yard cast beyond the w**d bed. Of coarse John has trained me to be casting machine, the cadence of the bait was giving the vibration I wanted, I was just turning to say something to John when...wham a vicious strike and my setting reflex kicked in immediately! Thank God! The fight ensued, she powered into the w**ds trying to free herself from my bait. She was a powerful fighter and used her bulk to pull line out from my drag as I reeled. I again wish we would use our go pro as she would have made such a video with aggressive head shakes frothing the water and to capture her power. She plunged deep and tried to go under the boat while she head shook and rolled; I managed to keep her from going fully under the boat while trying not to over pressure her. I got her to the surface for another surface fight...all the while John is positioning himself for the head first net job. I brought her around the front of the boat and thought she had thrown the hook in the corner of her mouth as the second hook had her hooked on the side of her gill...I was afraid she'd shake free. As I finally got her to glide on the surface, John had switched positioning and was just getting the net in position but she decided to put it hyper drive was partially airborne and landed on the center of the rim of the net...OH MY GOD! John reacted masterfully and did some fancy net maneuvers and she was in the net bag! We always leave the net bag in the water to cradle the fish as hooks are removed, the bumper board ready, a quick measurement and two quick photos. She was still very energetic so I didn't dare move my left hand from the belly for fear of the fish or me getting hurt...so John grabbed the tail and we carefully put her in the water...after a few powerful tail thrusts she was gone into the depths! What a beautiful fish she was in great shape and certainly will live to fight another day.

I've said this before but a couple that fishes together for the elusive musky certainly become one sincrinized body that share together in the glories of the successes and the stories of the ones that got away! We are so blessed to be able to fish the Chippewa Flowage as it is Heaven on earth!
