A must tradition for July 4th for runners and walkers of ALL AGES, Friends of Gibraltar Schools has hosted the event as a fundraiser for over 30 years. Here's some tasty news: Two of the 2026 prestigious James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards nominees practice their culinary art in northern Door County! Be sure to sample their delights the next time you visit. Nominated for "Outstanding Wine & Other Beverages," Matt Sampson is the owner and head brewmaster at Sway Brewing + Blending in Baileys Harbor. Nominated for "Outstanding Bakery," Mattea Fischer is owner/head baker of Cultured in Sister Bay. Cultured is a sourdough bakery specializing in bagels, bread, and fermented goods like sauerkraut and kimchi. It also offers drip coffee and sandwiches.
The national awards will be held on Monday, June 15th at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

BEGINNING THIS WEEK, online reservations are open for history tram tours, folk art classes, and programs. Many EHF special programs are scheduled for midweek, a perfect time to enjoy a slower summer rhythm at Eagle Harbor Inn.
Starting THURSDAY, MAY 21, explore the freshly reinterpreted Anderson Store Museum. On TUES., JUNE 2nd, The Anderson Barn Museum opens, followed by its 2026 featured exhibit, "Fields of Arrival: Migration, Work, and Memory in Door County" on TUES., JUNE 16th. This exhibit explores stories connected with Door County's orchard industry.
Three new, themed tram tour experiences have also been added to the 2026 schedule. They are: Historic Buildings of Ephraim, Dark History of Ephraim and Village Architecture. History Tram Tours bookings are now live at ephraim.org/history-tram-tours.
