Summer in Estes just hits different 🌲☀️

Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park is absolutely beautiful right now! Everything is green, the water is calm, and the mountains are showing off. If you’ve been thinking about a mountain getaway, now is the perfect time to come enjoy Estes Park before the big mid-June crowds arrive.

Alpine Visitor Center is now open for the 2026 summer season.

Located in Rocky Mountain National Park along Trail Ridge Road at the top of Fall River Pass, the visitor center is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather and conditions permitting.

Alpine Visitor Center sits at 11,796 feet above sea level. This is the highest elevation visitor center in the National Park System. Stop by and learn more about plants and wildlife that live in the land above trees - the alpine tundra.

Timed Entry Reservations are required for Trail Ridge Road from 9 am to 2 pm. Trail Ridge Store is currently closed to all uses. Visitors must adhere to any barricades. 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝.

Temporary closures are possible at any time, based on weather and conditions.

Bear Lake is one of Rocky Mountain National Park’s most accessible and breathtaking sights, sitting just 500 feet from the main parking lot. It’s an easy and memorable stop to add to your Estes Park trip plans.

The drive to the trailhead is filled with beautiful alpine views that make the journey there part of the experience.

A Timed Entry Permit is required if visiting between 5am–6pm through October 18, 2026, and a Park Entrance Pass is required at all times.
