Washington's Cascade Mountain got some much needed snow! 🌨️

After some lower than average rainfall/precipitation throughout Western Washington, we've been getting back our normal rain. Seattle has even seen some flurries on some chilly mornings.

Temperatures are expected to rise back later this week, but still pack extra layers for wind, rain, and cooler nights.

Wanting to explore outside of Seattle?
There are three ski mountains within 2 hours of Seattle: -Snoqualmie Pass: small mtn good for beginners
-Crystal: intermediate and easy trails plus views of Rainier
-Stevens Pass: more intermediate or experienced trails
Right now, Crystal Mountain is also offering $62 Tuesdays every Tues of the season!

Looking for some indoor things to do:
-Visit Seattle Public Library on 5th Ave
-Explore museums or the Seattle Aquarium
-Take a ferry to Bainbridge and window shop
-Shop local at vintage, secondhand, cafes, or book stores

There's always so much to explore no matter what the weather ☁️

Punxsutawney Phil may have seen his shadow this week, but don't fret there's lots going on in February!

Not sure what to do in Seattle while you're here? Check out one of Seattle's many art and farmers markets. There's always one on Sundays throughout the neighborhoods: Ballard, Fremont, Capitol Hill, and West Seattle.

There are also a few other markets and events to check out. This Saturday at Hing Hay Park ring the Lunar New Year at the night market from 4-6. Go on an Art Walk or visit some Seattle museums for free on the first Thursday.

Wanting more movement in your day? Seattle center is offering free yoga, Pilates, and Zumba on Wednesdays this month. Or go to a home hockey game and cheer like your life depends on it! Go Krakens! Go Torrents! Also don't miss out on the Superbowl watch at the hostel as the Seahawks play against the Patriots!

Whichever you decide, you're sure to find something to make your visit to Seattle memorable!

Prepare for Seattle streets to be filled!

Jan 30 Blackout: If you're visiting, find no spend alternatives today. Visit the Arboretum or another park, walk around Seattle Center, visit the Frye Art Museum, see the Fremont Troll. If you are unable to make no purchases, shop local and support independent businesses throughout Seattle that are still open.

Jan 31 Protest: There will be numerous protests taken to the streets. Today you can see thousands outside the Target on your way to the hostel.

Join a peaceful protest to show your support: Educators, Parents, Community @ 1pm Seattle Central College, Healthcare Worker March @ 12-1pm Harborview, Tech Worker Say Ice Out @ 12:30pm Cal Anderson, and more.

Show your support however you can! Don't spend on anything not essential today, find somewhere to donate, support local businesses that support these efforts, join a march.

Want to make your travels more impactful?

Seattle Parks and Utilities areas have many volunteer opportunities. Our staff have enjoyed planting trees with the past few Saturdays!

Not only are we able to give back to the community for years to come, but we also get knowledge about native species, tree canopies, and Seattle's history of ecosystems.

Saturday, November 22:

Join Dirt Corps for their end of year wrap-up work party at Westcrest Park (9000 8th Ave SW) to learn about native species and planting shrubs and trees from 10am-1pm Saturday.

From 10am-12pm, Green Seattle is hosting an English Ivy Removal Day around 5171 S Ruggles St (Kubota greenbelt).

Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association's (DNDA) Nature team is hosting a forest restoration event at Delridge Native Forest Garden (7528 21st Ave SW) from 10am-1pm.
