After the rain cleared, one of our guests captured this view at Meadow Lake Retreat, and honestly, wow.

That Texas sky showed off a little. The calm water, the reflection, the trees, the quiet after the storm. It’s the kind of evening that makes you slow down without even trying.

Their guestbook note said it best: kayaking the river, watching movies, playing games, cooking together, and soaking in that gorgeous sunset. They even mentioned our big twisted tree and the labeled cabinets. We love when the little details get noticed.

Took a little time today to get out on Lake Placid at Reiley Retreat with one of our favorite guests and do some fishing.

No rush. No noise. Just the boat, the water, the old bridges, and a reminder that this place has a way of slowing everything down in the best way.

Lake Placid is looking good, and days like this are exactly why we love sharing it with our guests.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Weekend on the Guadalupe 🇺🇸

Today we remember the men and women who gave everything for this country. Their sacrifice is the reason we get to enjoy simple moments like this… slow mornings on the water, family cookouts, boat rides, and Texas sunsets.

If you’re spending the weekend at one of our river retreats, we hope you take a moment to pause and remember what this holiday is really about.

And after that… enjoy the lake, the laughter, the fishing, the fires, and the people around you. That freedom came at a cost.

**A sight for sore eyes.**

After being without a dam for **4.5 years**, seeing the upstream dam again is something special.

This dam separates **Lake McQueeney** from **Lake Placid**, and for so long, it’s been deeply missed by everyone who loves this area. Seeing it again is more than just a beautiful view; it’s a reminder of restoration, progress, and the return of a place so many people cherish.

We’re thankful to watch this part of the lake come back to life and to share it with our guests at **Reiley Retreat**.

I had some time this morning to take a quick trip down the lake today at Reiley Retreat before our next guests checked in and you would’ve thought I was in Florida. 🛶🌿🪶

Herons in the trees, giant tortoises soaking up the sun, and wildlife around every corner. Not a bad way to slow down for a minute here in Seguin, Texas.

Sometimes the best reset is just getting out on the water.
