Yall think you understand that Dolly means a lot to East Tennessee because of Dollywood, but there are adults whose only books they ever owned came from her. They can read and write because of her. East Tennessee Children's Hospital won't disclose how much she has donated but the plan was already set to rename the entire hospital "Dolly Parton Children's Hospital" so it was A LOT. She has hired every last 3rd and 4th relative of hers to do something for one of her businesses because East Tennessee is poor. She donated to Hurricane Helene victims 8 days after it hit (anyone remember how long it took FEMA?). She has Sevier County scholarships to high schoolers to go to college and she gave to the Buddy Program that encouraged rural Appalachian youth to graduate and lowered the drop out rate. She also gave to wildfire victims after the 2016 wildfires in Sevier County for a sum of over 12M.
She literally put her money back into the hills.... and the hills love far more than anyone else can fathom.
So if you think its just because she came from here that we love her, yall just don't know. East Tennessee would literally not be what it is now without her.
