Friday night plans sorted 🍻🎉

The Commercial Hotel Burra have plenty happening tonight, with the Meat Tray Raffle, Joker Poker, happy hour specials and a good old-fashioned Friday night at the pub.

From local Merino flocks to Australian fashion 🐑🧶

There’s something rather special about seeing a local Burra story travel well beyond our little corner of South Australia.

Iris & Wool, founded here in Burra by Emily Riggs, brings together generations of Merino farming, Australian wool and beautiful contemporary design. Some of the wool used in their collections can be traced back to the family’s own local Merino properties.

Behind the label is an equally meaningful story, with Iris & Wool reflecting both family and the farming life and fibre that have become such an important part of the brand.

If you’re visiting Burra, their flagship boutique in Market Street is another lovely local place worth discovering while you’re here. 🐑

Burra Community Town Hall is much more than a historic building.

Behind its impressive façade is one of Burra's most diverse collections of local history, lovingly assembled and cared for by dedicated volunteers. Visitors can explore exhibits covering mining, pastoral life, wartime service, Sir Hubert Wilkins, Mary Warnes, Freemasonry, the famous dugouts and much more, with passionate locals often on hand to share the stories behind the displays.

Beyond the museum, the Town Hall remains an active community hub, hosting exhibitions, talks, concerts, community events and the volunteer-run Burra Film Group throughout the year.

If you're planning a trip, it's always worth checking the accommodation provider's own website or giving them a call before booking through a third-party booking site.

Comparison sites are great for researching your options, but booking direct can often mean:
