Meet Mads!

At just 28, Adelaide local Mads has completed the entire 1,200 km Heysen Trail solo.

Starting at Cape Jervis and finishing at Parachilna Gorge in the Flinders Ranges, Mads spent weeks walking through some of South Australia’s most spectacular landscapes.

We were fortunate to host Mads at Hawker Caravan Park during the final six days of his journey. As part of our support for Heysen Trail walkers, we also offer a convenient transfer service to and from local trail access points, including Jarvis Hill Lookout and other nearby locations, making it easier to explore the trail while enjoying a comfortable stay with us.

Before setting off to complete the trail, Mads shared some insights about his experience, challenges, and what inspired him to take on this incredible adventure.

Overland to Darwin & Back 1926-2026

In 1926, the son of the founder of the family shoe business drove 7,000km to Darwin and back. 🇦🇺 100 years later, his descendants are retracing tourism history in the original 1925 Studebakers to support the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
