Sadly we must remove the Ye Old Country Store Inn Social Media pages over the coming days.

As a result of the Township's new bylaw regarding short-term rentals and bed & breakfasts, we are no longer able to continue operating as we have for so many years.

We want to Thank You, our Community and Guests for your support for Ye Old Country Store Inn over the past 15 Years.

Our little inn has always been much more than a place to stay.

Long before it became an inn, it was the heart of the community. Operated by Henry and Helen Neufeld, it served as the local post office, grocery store, hardware store, gas station, and blacksmith shop. It was where neighbours gathered to pick up their mail, buy groceries, share stories, and catch up on the latest neighborhood news and I understand the candy store for the local children. The hitching posts for horses are still here. Henry later became the Clerk of the Township, and the store closed in the early 1960s.

We are proud to be the caretakers of this special piece of Oro-Medonte's history. In 2021, Ye Old Country Store Inn was honoured to receive a Heritage Award, recognizing its historical significance and our commitment to preserving it for future generations.

For more than 15 years, we have had the privilege of welcoming guests from across Canada and around the world, Holland, England, Israel, Denmark, Russia, Scotland and Ireland to name a few. Many arrived as visitors but left as lifelong friends—and some truly became part of our extended family, and return for visits.

We have proudly supported our community and will continue to do so in other ways.

During the pandemic, we opened our doors to doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals working on the front lines. Our accommodations were listed on the Township of Oro-Medonte's website as emergency accommodations for essential workers.

During the devastating ice storm, we welcomed neighbours into our home to warm up, recharge their phones and devices, connect with loved ones, enjoy a hot shower, and even stay overnight if they needed a safe place to rest. For months we housed tree service workers and hydro workers from across Ontario who were helping to get our homes and businesses back up and running and make our roads safe.

We proudly supported and sponsored the Oro-Medonte Farmers' Market and Mystical Lights year after year, promoted local businesses, shared community events, and celebrated everything that makes Oro-Medonte such a wonderful place to live, work, and visit.

We believe accommodations are an important part of supporting our local economy.

Not every family can afford to stay at a resort. Many visitors are looking for comfortable, affordable accommodations while exploring our Township, attending family celebrations, visiting and caring for loved ones, attending medial appointments, or enjoying the many attractions our area has to offer.

When visitors cannot stay in Oro-Medonte, they often stay in neighbouring communities. Those communities benefit from spending at restaurants, shops, and local businesses—economic activity that could otherwise support businesses here at home. We have many great business through out the township.

Entrepreneurs are the backbone of rural communities. Many rely on multiple sources of income to support their families, maintain their properties, and continue contributing to the local economy. Supporting local business means recognizing the important role all businesses play in helping our Township thrive.

We will continue providing extended-stay corporate housing for stays of 29 days or longer, welcoming doctors, medical residents, healthcare professionals, emergency workers, temporary workers, families relocating, people building or renovating their homes, and those who simply need a comfortable home away from home during life's transitions.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who stayed with us, followed our page, recommended our inn, and supported our family business over the years. Your kindness, encouragement, and friendships have meant more than words can express.

While this page will soon be coming to an end, we'd love to stay connected. Please follow me on Facebook: Sylvia Stark

I'll continue sharing stories about our community, promoting local businesses and events, and celebrating everything that makes Oro-Medonte such a special place to call home. There is also a new local page Discover Oro-Medonte

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives and for helping keep the history of this beautiful building alive. It has served our community for generations, and we are honoured to have been part of its story, it is a very special place.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Rick & Sylvia

A New Chapter for Ye Old Country Store Inn

After many wonderful years welcoming visitors to Oro-Medonte, we are announcing a new direction.

We are transitioning away from short-term vacation rentals and focusing on providing corporate housing fully furnished accommodations for professionals for stays of over 28 days or longer. We are not taking long term renters.

Our goal is simple—to provide a true "home away from home" for those who need more than just a place to stay.

Over the years, our homes have welcomed people during some of life's most important moments.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we proudly provided accommodations for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals working on the front lines. Our homes were recognized on the Township of Oro-Medonte's website as emergency accommodations for essential workers.

Following the devastating ice storm, we opened our doors to Hydro crews and emergency workers who travelled from across Ontario and other provinces to help restore power and support our community.

We have also been honoured to provide a comfortable home for:

Patients and families receiving medical treatment at our local hospitals RVH and SMH
Doctors, resident physicians, and healthcare professionals working in our region.
Families building new homes in Oro-Medonte.
Homeowners displaced due to fire, flooding, or unexpected damage.
Professionals on temporary work assignments and training.
Families relocating to our area.

Located just minutes from Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital and Royal Victoria Hospital, our fully furnished home offer everything needed for an extended stay, including fully equipped kitchens, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, fresh linens, parking, and all the comforts of home.

As owners who live next door, we take great pride in ensuring every guest enjoys a clean, welcoming, and comfortable environment. We know that many of our guests are away from family, navigating challenging circumstances, or starting a new chapter in life. Our goal is to make that transition just a little easier.

We look forward to continuing to serve our community in this new capacity and welcoming those who need a place to call home—even if only for a little while.
