SCARBOROUGH ART GALLERY

Of Land and Sea
Until 2nd May 2026

In this exhibition, you are invited to pause, reflect, and recharge as you discover artworks from Scarborough’s collections that explore the shifting boundaries between coast and land.
‘Of Land and Sea’ reflects rich and varied landscapes, from rugged shorelines to rolling hills, and the many ways artists have been inspired by, and interpreted these environments.

The exhibition also features historic maritime objects on loan from the Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre, a volunteer run charity, dedicated to preserving and sharing the town’s maritime past.

Tuesday - Saturday | 10am - 4.30pm

SCARBOROUGH SPARKLE 2025

This is a three-day event organised by North Yorkshire Council to usher in Christmas. Taking place on 28, 29 and 30 November, Scarborough Sparkle is a magical and enchanting Christmas wonderland taking place at the Open Air Theatre. It is free to attend and is the perfect place to dive into the festive spirit and get a head start on your shopping.

The event will be opened with the annual lantern parade created by local community groups, and there's a festive market offering crafts, handmade gifts, hot food and drinks such as hot chocolate and mulled wine. There will also be fun fair rides, music, a snow machine, a Christmas tree, Santa sleigh and you can meet our mischievous green Christmas guest and special snow sisters.

If that isn’t enough there’ll be a tipi bar, where you can listen to music and toast marshmallows and a stage hosted by This is the Coast local radio station, featuring local choirs and competition giveaways.

You will also be able to hop aboard the Funtime Express - a festive train which will be running from the far end of the Open Air Theatre, taking you on a magical ride to see the sights of North Bay. Enjoy festive tunes, sparkling lights, and plenty of Christmas cheer along the way. It’s a trip not to miss—perfect for families and anyone looking to add a little extra sparkle to their visit!

DRONE DISPLAY AT SCARBOROUGH CASTLE

19th-23rd November

Enjoy a brand new drone display at Scarborough Castle! Take a journey round Scarborough with Thomasin Farrer and some local schoolchildren as we approach the town’s 400th anniversary as the UK’s first seaside resort. It is also a unique chance to see the Scarborough Castle illuminations up close. There will be fire, light and music performances before the show, plus food and drink stalls to enjoy.

CELEBRATING OUR FIRST ANNIVERSARY TODAY!

We can't believe how quickly time flies - today was our first anniversary since taking over the reins at the Raincliffe!
Just want to say a big thank you to all our guests and regulars (new and old) for making it a really successful year for us, and also for giving us such lovely reviews! It's really much appreciated. Here's hoping for another great year ahead!!

Inspired by the haunting beauty and darkness of the Grimm Fairy Tales, this exhibition of paintings, collages, and etchings, reimagines classic stories through Wood’s inventive works of dreamlike landscapes, expressive figures, and a touch of the surreal.

Alongside, visitors can explore a selection of objects from the Clarke Charm Collection, a fascinating display of charms and amulets collected by William Clarke, reflecting folk beliefs in protection, healing, and magic. The exhibition blends Wood’s mystical art with Clarke’s historic charms, offering a unique look at storytelling, superstition, and creativity.
