Snug, calming, and full of character, our Bowness Junior Suite is a wonderfully private getaway for a romantic break or special occasion. With a clean, classic design and a peaceful feel throughout, it’s a space that invites you to slow down and settle in.

Named after the popular village of Bowness (just over a mile away), this ground floor suite can be made up as either a twin or a superking, giving you flexibility without compromising on comfort. The spacious layout extends into the ensuite, where you’ll find a spa bath, a large walk-in shower, and a range of luxurious toiletries - perfect for a proper unwind.

📚 One of our favourite details is the well-cushioned window seat, an idyllic spot for a good book or a little sunshine on a lazy evening. And if you’re travelling as three, the comfortable sofa can be converted into a bed to accommodate a third adult or child.

At the heart of Cedar Manor, our intimate Bar & Lounge is made for slow moments and easy conversation. Echoing the stately elegance of our Victorian country home setting, it’s a warm and welcoming space with a cosy hearth, ornate furnishings, and a relaxed atmosphere that invites you to settle in.

Whether you’re dropping by for a casual drink or an evening tipple, you’ll find all your favourites behind the bar alongside some brilliant local standouts. From local bottled ales and lagers to wines, spirits and soft drinks, there’s something for every mood and moment.

Our bar is available from midday to 11pm for residents.

🕰️ Check-in and check-out: Check-in is from 3pm until midnight. If you need to arrive earlier or later, please contact us and we’ll do our best to help. Check-out is by 11am.

🚗 Car parking (free for guests): Car parking is free at Cedar Manor, with spaces available for each guest. We also have an electric car charging point located in the grounds.

📶 WiFi: Our WiFi is secure and free for Cedar Manor guests, with a fast connection so you can stream your favourite shows, enjoy your favourite games, or make conference calls for work with ease from your room or suite.

When the garden’s looking its best and the Lake District air feels extra fresh, Afternoon Tea at Cedar Manor is a real treat.

Served in our immaculate garden and terrace (or in the cosy dining room, lounge, if you’d rather be indoors), it’s a lovely way to slow down and make an afternoon of it.

🍰 Expect the full classic spread - finger sandwiches, warming loose-leaf tea, our own plain and fruit scones with clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam, plus an enticing selection of rich desserts and light cakes. Everything is served with real care, right down to the bone china tea service from Royal Crown Derby and fine silverware made in Sheffield by Arthur Price.

🌿 We also offer a vegetarian Afternoon Tea and can provide gluten-free alternatives. Please note we’re unable to offer lactose-free, dairy-free or vegan options. Nuts are used in our kitchen and in Afternoon Tea, so do contact us before booking if you have any food allergies or intolerances.

🕰 Afternoon Tea is served 2-4pm on Thursdays, and 1.30-4pm Friday to Monday inclusive. Advanced booking is essential.

When time is precious, a Lake District weekend should feel easy from the moment you arrive - and that’s exactly what we aim for at Cedar Manor.

Just a couple of hours from Manchester, Merseyside, Yorkshire and the North East, our boutique hotel in Windermere is perfectly placed for a short break that doesn’t waste a minute.

🧀 Arrive and settle in: Hungry after the drive? Windermere as a range of offerings which don't require a booking, including The Tilly Bar and Kitchen or Café Italia. If there’s still daylight, take a gentle wander down the lane to the shore of Windermere at Miller Ground for those first ‘we’re really here’ views - and if the lake looks too tempting, you can even take a dip.

🚗 Your ‘Grand Tour’ day out: Fancy a proper Lakes adventure? Head north to Ambleside, take on Kirkstone Pass (via the famous Struggle), then drop down to the beautiful Ullswater Valley. Stop for a sail on a steamer at Glenridding, and if you’d like to stretch your legs, Aira Force makes a brilliant detour. On the way back, enjoy the scenery around Thirlmere before rejoining the A591.

☕ Villages, treats, and an afternoon tea reward: Make time for Grasmere - cafés, bookshops, the Heaton Cooper Studio, and of course the famous Grasmere Gingerbread from its tiny shop near the church. Swing back through Ambleside if you need to pick up any essentials, then return to Cedar Manor in time for afternoon tea. If you’ve still got energy, Orrest Head is a lovely local climb to earn that pre-dinner cocktail.

🎭 Evening plans (book ahead!): We’re surrounded by fantastic dining options, so it’s worth choosing your spot and booking in advance. And for a little entertainment, keep an eye on what’s on at The Royalty cinema - it’s reopening with films and live events, including music, comedy and theatre.

🥾 A Sunday you won’t forget: If you don’t fancy a slow start, head to Great Langdale for iconic valley views and a waterfall walk up to Dungeon Ghyll Force (and beyond, if you’re feeling adventurous). Prefer something more relaxed? Spend the morning with the papers in the lounge or out on the terrace, then finish your weekend with a long lunch - and if you’ve booked ahead, a couple of hours at the spa at Low Wood Bay is a lovely final treat.
